The food is okay, the beer is great, the building is cool. We love their cheap burger night and their assortment of beer--we go there about twice each year. Sort of franchisey but worth stopping in sometime

We ate here twice this past month. My husband didn't want to go again but this was our deciding night. Should we go back or not. We used to be regulars here on monday nights because they had dollar burger nights. The food was good, hot and tasty. The past two times we have been there the food is barely... More

Went to watch NCAA basketball and have snacks. Not a waiter in site. Got my own beer from the bar although seated at a table. Begged a waiter to let us order food which was cold when it arrived. Plenty of tvs for watching sports

Capital Ale House is a popular gathering place for lunch dinner and a meeting place to sample beers from all over. The long bar and 'shotgun' collection of booths, not to mention the lower level, accommodate crowds large or small with an eclectic menu with weekly specials and features to tempt all of us "Pub Grub Connoisseurs." Charming staff make... More

So, so, so loud. Insanely busy. Bad service likely related to the fact that it was packed. Clean-ish. Pretty environment. Ok selection of ale. Prices are medium-high. The crowd isn't my cup of tea so I'd never return.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I apologize for the loud atmosphere. This weekend we hosted St. Paddys Day celebrations with live music which usually do not entertain. As for the lack of service or hospitality is concerning. We strive to make every guests experience an excellent one. Your review has been shared with the management team... More

My families favorite place in town. Large beer selection. 2 buck burger night. Awesome pretzels. Where to stop. Food always fresh and delicious.

If you are into craft beers and good pub grub, this is a great option for you. There is a lot of competition in this category in downtown Fredericksburg, of course. This website has them rated 5th of 32 bars in Fredericksburg. That's about right. Food- for a restaurant, 3 of 5, for a bar 4 of 5. Value -... More

We went there as a group of 7 to celebrate a family members birthday. We had reservations and were given a good table. Our waiter was friendly, but slow. Some of it not his fault, as he had two parties on opposite sides of the long restaurant. We ordered apps; Bavarian pretzel, calamari, and wings, all were excellent. But the... More

Stopped in for some wings and a beer. Extensive beer menu. I wasn't fond of the beer I ordered and they happily switched it out for another selection. There is a cold trough along the bar to keep your drink cold. Nice! The wings were cooked well and nicely seasoned. Pretty good visit!

The Capital Ale House is an old historic restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg. The bar has an ice trough to keep your brew chilled when seated at the bar. The booths offer some privacy. The food is good, my favorite is the unique fried artichoke heart spinach and goat cheese sandwich. Reasonably priced.
