My friend and I traveled to Savannah for a girls trip. The Boar's Head was the best meal of our trip. The food was excellent and staff was attentive and friendly. This location is on the river which was a plus too.

My wife and I had lunch in this historic building while visiting Savannah. The lunch was very good - we both had a bowl of she-crab soup and split the chicken & pecan salad - all were excellent. The service was good but not exceptional.

Excellent food and service! We got a nice table with a view of the river. We tried the stuffed shrimp and shrimp and grits. Both were great. I had an orange blood margarita. It also was great. The hubby had a damn Yankee beer which...he said was good. They take reservations and the food was reasonable priced.More

Since I don't give a perfect rating, the place was way better than any place on river street by 1000. So many over priced and sub par meals line river street but not this one. I'm pretty picky about food quality, so the bar is...set very high. With that being said, I'll pay good money for good meals which isn't what you find at the river street tourist traps (where someone with a new trip advisor account is wasted from the booze on the beach stumbles in a place and raves about a place when in reality, the place sober would be equal to McDonald's). Stop reviewing while drunk. Its a disservice. Which is why I never chanced this place, been burned by the other river street spots. So glad I went against my judgements based on past experiences as mentioned above. NOW. THIS PLACE: Wonderful experience!! Food was delicious! The stuffed shrimp was delicious, the tilapia was delicious, the bartenders were very nice and helpful. The hostess worked with us to be seated...... .........DELICIOUS! ☆☆☆☆☆☆ ● Heads up: don't expect to just walk in at 5-close and get a table. GET A RESERVATION. We were able to sit at the bar and so glad we stayed. Well worth it. WE WILL BE GOING BACK.More

Absolutely in the top 3 meals I’ve ever eaten in my life…and I’m old! Our party had the rib eye steak and swordfish. Both were excellent! Steak was so tender and needed no sauce of any kind. Whatever magic they did to the swordfish is...unknown to us mere mortals, but it was exceptional. Kevin was our server and he was knowledgeable about every item in the menu. His descriptions alone made your mouth water.More

Love this restaurant. It's the first restaurant ever on Riverstreet. The food here is superb. I love the old school ambience here. For lunch I ordered the grilled chicken club. Its on a croissant style bread and excellent. The fries it comes with are excellent...too. Probably my favorite restaurant in SavannahMore

Restaurant came highly rated but was a great disappointment. The location overlooks the River Walk and centrally located. However, the entire dinner was sub-par, beginning with weak watered-down cocktails. I had a salmon dish with glaze that tasted like it had been pulled from a...frozen food box, slightly warmed and placed on the plate. My husband had shrimp with pasta which was virtually tasteless. Vic's had been recommended to us, but we chose the Boar's Head instead. Not a good decision.More

After looking at many restaurants we decided to try the Boars Head Grill and Tavern. It is located on River Street. The building is very interesting. It is an historic site. We had a greens salad with buttermilk ranch dressing to start. It was accompanied...by a hot french roll with whipped butter. It was very fresh and very good. For entrees we chose the shrimp and grits and the filet mignon with shrimp that were prepared with peach jam and bacon jam. The steak was grilled to perfection. The shrimp were nothing short of amazing! And the shrimp and grits we determined were the best that we have ever had anywhere in all of our travels! And we also had an excellent waitress..... Whenever we return to Savannah we will definitely return to the Boar's Head Tavern!More

Very pleased with this restaurant! We arrived early for cocktails at the bar. After enjoying our drinks and conversation with our bartender (Will), we were seated for dinner. Great service from the hostess staff and our waitress. Very good entrees of shrimp & grits and...stuffed shrimp. Finished up with a pecan pie to go. What’s not to love?More

We wanted to rate this a great experience and dinner…but it just wasn’t. We booked a reservation for Thursday night and they called us to let us know something was wrong in their kitchen. No problem, we rebooked for Saturday night. We ordered an appetizer...and drinks to start with. Our appetizer came quickly but our drinks sat at the bar until we asked. Our waiter had our table of two and a table of six and it took all effort to get service. The food was good but honestly their are SO many places to eat I wouldn’t waste your time as we had great food and service other places in savanna. Sorry.More

Fun place to eat on River Street in an old cotton warehouse. Started with a specialty cocktail. Blook Savanah Chery Limeade, that was very good. 1. Pork Chop with Peach Chutney over Sweet Potato Mash. The Pork Chop was dry and a little tough. I...don't think I would have eaten it if it wasn't for the Peach Chutney which was very good. I also like the SP mash as it was not overly sweet. 2. Grilled Swordfish with mushrooms, capers and a lemon butter sauce. Mashed potatoes and snow peas. This dish was very good. 3. We had Creme Brulee for dessert. It was just a little overcooked, presenting a custard consistency around the edge. It was nice and cool in the middle. Had a nice hard topping. The raspberry swirl with whipped cream and strawberry on the side as a nice touch.More

Of my week in Savannah this was the best dinner I had. Everyone was friendly and accommodating when we asked to add to our reservation. Stuffed shrimp were amazing and the creme brulee was to die for. The best I have ever had.

We had just arrived in Savannah on a hot day in July and happened upon Boar's Head, hot and hungry. This was the first meal we had in Savannah and one of the best meals we had. It was nice and cool in the restaurant....The historic ambiance was very interesting. And the food was amazing. Need I say more?More

I don't believe so but there may have been another entrance. I know we had to climb stairs to get inside. Maybe you could call them? Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

They have separate lunch and dinner menus, but I don't know what time they serve lunch until. They are open until 10 or 11 every night.
