The wait was a little over 2 hours. Savannah allows open alcohol in plastic. Get something to drink making the wait in line worth your time. Make friends with the people around you. After all, you may be seated at the same "family style" table with them. If I ever get to Savannah again, I would love to eat at... More

This is one of the funnest meals I ever eated. The food was simply divine and I swooned over the whole experience. It was like something out of Garden and Gun!

We enjoyed the 2 hour wait, meeting tourists out of town, and finally able to sit down for our favorite Southern meal in Savannah. Mrs. Thompson, the granddaughter of Mrs. Wilkes was very charming and shared some of the history of her grandmother. The meal was like sitting down for a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Passing a dish of delicious collard... More

This restaurant came highly recommended & did not disappoint. We went on the later side & fortunately the wait was not too long. The delicious side dishes were so numerous, it was impossible to try them all. Everyone at our table of 10 was raving about the biscuits & fried chicken. My family left very full & very impressed with... More

True southern cooking, served in a family-style dining room. This is simply the best southern cooked meal I have every enjoyed. When you arrive, the table is set with about 20 different dishes and a warm staff. Desert of Peach Cobbler is worth the visit alone. Location only open M-F 10AM-2PM, lines form early, CASH ONLY and they are closed... More

We'd heard about Mrs. Wilkes about a week before our trip and put it on our list. We tried at 10:40 the day we were in town and the line was halfway down the street already. Came back at 1:30 and it was still about half that long. But we shivered out the cold and finally got in. As others... More

We waited in line for two hours to get in but it is one of those unique experiences in a beautiful city that is worth it. The fried chicken is really that good. It's fun to meet other fellow patrons both in line and around one of the large tables. If you are not from the south this is a... More

This is _the_ place to eat lunch when visiting Savannah, but plan to spend a big part of your day waiting in line. We visited during the busy week between Christmas and New Years. We arrived by 10:15, and there were approximately 60 people ahead of us in line. This number grew as latecomers joined their friends and family who... More

This is a truly southern restaurant that's considered a must visit place in Savannah. The food is good and served at big 10 person tables shared with other persons (unless you are a group of 10). The food was very good, especially the beef brisket and fried chicken. It's southern home cooking at its best. The only annoying part is... More
