Had dinner tonight at the Charleston Restaurant in Baltimore, and was blown away by the service and the care the restaurant took with the food. As our maitre d' (yes, we had our own, as well as our own waiters) explained, the chef carefully prepares each dish, but doesn't overwhelm diners with quantity so a three-course dinner (the smallest --... Few restaurants anywhere can deliver the total experience as the Charleston. Yes it is expensive, but the quality of the food and professionalism of the staff makes it that go to for a really SPECIAL occasion. We were extremely happy with our experience, and it may be a few years, but we will always want to come back.

First, this restaurant is comparable to some of the best restaurants in New York City. It is very pricey, so forget about bringing your family (it's far too sophisticated for children and it's not fair to disrupt the couples who want a pleasant evening without children). It definitely is for that special evening or for the business set (where the... More

Arrogant, overpriced and past its prime. Used to be a popular one with critics and phony sophisticates. Now real competition has developed in the area offering a more comfortable, sincere experience

I have eaten in some of the best Resturants in my travels to 67 countries and all major American cities. The small dish menu is outstanding but beware the three dish offer is more than filling. And as an extra kicker you have a choice of some delicious desserts. The small dish offers total at least twenty choices plus the... More

Had a business dinner here recently and WOW. The table had a 4-course chef's tasting menu, with 4 bottle of wine (2 red, 2 white). First, an amazing lobster curry bisque, then a very nich tuna tartar, then an outstanding rockfish, perfectly sauced with caramelized mushrooms, and a beef tenderloin perfectly done. Dessert (included) was a chocolate mousse tarte with... More

I have had dinner at Charleston 4 times in the past year and many other times but much less frequently on special occasions. Cindy Wolfe has progressed from good chef to great chef and now to great chef and superior leader. The standards for service, wine and the food at Charleston are very high and absolutely consistent. Dishes are beautifully... More

We arrived a bit early for our dinner so started the evening in the bar. The sun was just beginning to go down and the view of the harbor was stunning on a beautiful evening. It would have been lovely to have had dinner there but we moved into one of the smaller dining areas. Our service was impeccable and... More

Chef Cindy Wolf remains at the top of her game creating New American cousine. I had the 3 course menu for $79 with the Fresh Artichoke Soup, Pan-Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras and Pan-Roasted Hudson Valley Magret of Duck. In my opinion is Baltimore's best restaurant with its No. 1 ratings for Food, Decor and Service; with no detail going... More

Chef Wolf’s kitchen must be the cleanest place on Earth. Although every dish was prepared and assembled and delivered to the table flawlessly, the actual raw ingredients had been scrubbed so clean, as to render them lost of the essence that makes them what they are. For example, the Foie Gras, when tasted alone, had a perfect texture, perfectly flash... More
