The hostess was cold toward everyone, waitress was nice but said she had only started a few weeks ago. Told her she should find place with better morals. Anyway, I got a small shrimp salad, well had 5 tiny shrimps on top of a basic salad for $9. As I was eating it , I noticed that more and more... More

My husband and I went there tonight for the first and last time. We were seated right away by a not so friendly hostess. The restaurant was not really busy and our table was in a prominent spot, however it was like we were invisible. There were two waitresses in the vicinity who never came to our table to take... Our party of 6 had mostly a variety of shrimp entrees and oysters which most enjoyed. Unfortunately I love crab cakes, but I must have picked the wrong selection as mine were mostly filler-very little taste. Disappointing.

We were staying nearby and were here on business. We had the Gator Tail as our appetizer and I had the grilled Scallops as my entree. Everything was delicious, especially the hush puppies. Our server was attentive and provided great service. If you are in the mood for seafood with a view, I highly recommend eating here.

We cycled there for a quick meal and were pleasantly surprised. The view on the deck was great and the food was amazing! Will absolutely visit again! I highly recommend the grilled mahi mahi, hushpuppies, and peel and eat shrimp. The only downfall is if you order a drink it gets warm quickly as it is served in cheap plastic... More

We go to Sandollar a few times a year, usually in the spring or early summer. It was a really nice day and we decided to stop by for lunch and enjoy the sunshine. Cathy had an ahi tuna sandwich and I had the fish tacos with black beans and rice. Usually I get the blackened shrimp, but decided it... More

Not very happy. Three food was over priced and overt cooked. As a family of 4 our meal was over $90. I could have gone to Chilis and had better food and spent a lot less. The outside ambiance is good but the inside lines old and tired.

Everything! My wife and I went to Sandollar Restaurant for lunch, they open daily at 11am, and have a large menu for lunch, including lots of good seafood choices. Early is a good time to eat at Sandollar, since it is a large restaurant and bar, with outdoor seating as well. I imagine it gets very crowded later during meal... More

This is the perfect restaurant for water dining, both inside and out. Views are throughout the restaurant. We drove from Amelia island, and it is an easy drive (approximately 10 miles from the Omni Resort). We were there for lunch and had the Seafood Platter for One (but we shared it & had plenty!). It had fish, scallops, shrimp, stuffed... More

We went here for dinner to kill some time, and when we arrived it was mostly empty, except for the bar where the rowdy local drunks apparently hang out. I had my 13 year old daughter with me, and she ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizer, I ordered the wings and told the server to come back in a few when... More

Description
The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island. This small but capable restaurant was able to capitalize on the booming American shrimp market from Mayport across the river. The business thrived and created the tradition of serving fresh and local seafood at low costs. This was when Heckscher Drive still had bridges that were made of wood and moved with the tide. After a while, the area demanded a larger facility and in 1988, a new building was constructed by Dwayne Williams, who owned La Cruise Casino and Restaurant in Mayport. He kept the tradition of providing customers with fresh, quality seafood at a low price.

Today, under that same direction from the original owner, we look forward to bringing back the same great seafood that The Sandollar brought in when it opened. We are proud to be serving our local community for over 15 years now and will continue to give back and assure our locals that the next decade will provide the same great service, incredible food, and innovation that we are known for.
