We found Cochon on Amazon local and decided to give it a try. The fried oysters were fishy- so they were turned or just about turned. My monkfish with ravioli was 2 raviolis, and a piece of fish that was 2 inches by about 1.5. I laughed previously when another reviewer included measurements, but you should know what you plan... My friend kept telling me I had to try this place since his son-in-law is the chef. Spending the weekend in Philadelphia to move our daughter into a new apartment, we finally had the chance to go. Wow. Wow again. This place is true carnivore heaven. Started out with a appie of escargot that was so freakin delicious I wanted... More

Very good meal. By the name pork is the specialty. Escargot as well as duck heart appetizers were very good(duck hearts seemed tough but may be the nature). Both entrees were great ... Crispy pork chop and Prosciutto-wrapped Pork Tenderloin. Really want to back and try some other entrees including the duck.

A frequent visitor to the City of Light, I usually avoid American "French Bistros" because they just don't have the flair, style or innovative cooking found in the real thing. Cochon is an exception. Because the place, as its name implies, specializes in dishes with the noble pig, don't miss any of the pork dishes on the menu. The place... More

I went here with a couple of friends, easily one of the best meals I've had this year. I skipped the appetizers and went straight for the steak, which was cooked to perfection(medium rare for me), and served with a delicious bacon potato salad and leafy greens. While I only planned on eating half, I got sucked into the amazing... More

Party of three verdict: Very Good! Fried oysters, lobster ravioli, very good. The shrimp torchon, could have had more shrimp flavor. However it was cooked perfectly. The chicken hearts were excellent - medium rare. The pork chop, trio of pork and lamb were devoured with gusto. Initially my wife balked at the lamb chops served at medium rare but once... More

Excellent Fried Oysters, frisee salad, crispy pork chop. Desserts not as good as mains. Could not taste bacon in the ice cream. Excellent butter with smoked salt along with the bread.

We've been to Cochon twice, either following or preceding a theater performance in Philadelphia. It's situated on the odd angled Passyunk Ave that cuts somewhat annoyingly through South Philadelphia. Parking is tricky, but that's typical of the best little BYOB's in South Philly. Pig themes decorate the small room, and many of the menu items and specials. You will probably... More

How can you go wrong with a BYO restaurant specializing in swine? Was so excited for my pork and pinot... Our appetizers were actually pretty good, especially they play on chicken livers in a French onion soup-the oysters were decent. The surprise came for our main courses, in which both the pork belly and lamb shoulder were 'molded' into some... More
