Great deli! Hardest part is deciding what to get. I had an omelet and potato pancakes. Hot, delicious. Good, non-intrusive service. We sat for a while enjoying prompt refills of tea and coffee. A fabulous way to spend a Saturday morning.

You couldn't ask for better meats in their sandwiches, nor stacked higher. It was all the four of us could do to eat two sandwiches - one pastrami, and one beef brisket. We shared one piece of German Chocolate cake, and ended up taking home...More

Read and believe the TA reviews, recommendations from guidebooks, online blogs and advice from friends. Sharing is what 4th Street veterans do and there's no shame in it. The portions are huge, really huge. The best play is to share with a partner, as my...More

Famous rocks if you love deli food. The sandwiches are huge so I would suggest you share one and try something else with it. Their take out counter is awesome as well.

I think out of the 100,000 restaurants I’ve visited on my life (or somewhere close to that) my favorite is Famous 4th street. Jewish soul food done to perfection. NYC has nothing on this gem.

I have not visited south Philly in 10 years. The Italian market is always interesting but seemed less receptive and unkempt to a visitor from Texas. I was quick to exit this area and proceeded to this delicatessen. Great decision on my part! Start with...More

Off the beaten path in one of Philly’s neighborhoods. We were super excited and knew what we wanted before we arrived. Reuben on Rye was HUGE! Wife and I split it and she still didn’t finish her portion. Kind friendly service!

If i were you, i would drop by to ask to see the portion(s) of the food(platter) then decide. Platters are various in sizes (mostly the same everytime) but depends on what you order.

I definitely think you can order for a few less. My sister-in-law and I split a pick-four-meats plate and we had tons left over, although we did eat a ton of appetizers and soup. Maybe order for 8-10.
