If you like beer, in the connoisseur sense, then you have to come here when visiting Philly. Amazing selection, fairly priced, in a cool and cosy interior and a great selection of sandwiches, soups, burgers and mains. You could easily spend hours in here...although go easy otherwise you'll be asleep for most of the time!!

I love Monk's for the atmosphere and the beer selection. I visit every time I'm in Philly and sit at the back bar. I love to down some mussels along with my brew, especially their Flemish Sour!

Last night the Philadelphia orchestra had a popUP concert at 6:30 so at 4:30 we went to Monk's Cafe for dinner. Monk's is known for there beer selections and mussels. A friend and I shared a pit of mussels in a Thai broth and my wife had macaroni and cheese, which had ham, bacon and asparagus combined with macaroni and... More

Ok so its a bit run down (I'm sure for the locals who go there its called character), but that's not my gripe. The burger should have been GREAT. It was just OK. a joint like that should have GREAT burgers. The slices of duck in the duck salad was sushi-like under cooked. The beer selection is pretty good though.

One of the few places in the USA to serve Russian River’s Pliny the Elder on tap. Bartender mentioned they get in several kegs a month. Confirmed delivery of Pliny the Younger in February too. Expect long lines for Younger early in the day. Tied to a charity event. Cash only.

This is arguably one of the best places in the US for beer. The beer list is extensive and has many of the very best Belgian beers available. The food is also very good--my wife and I have lunch here most times we come to center city. The house specialty mussels are a must (if you like mussels and something... More

We were going to The Kimmel and wanted a fairly quick dinner. Monks is s bar restaurant that specializes in mussels in the Belgian style. We ate at the bar to get out quickly. There was a good portion of mussels but we were slightly disappointed in the 8-9 that were unopened or raw. The fries were tasty and well... More

The beer was very good and the service was excellent. I also enjoyed the humus plate. It would of been nice to have another option to eat that didn't include meat but other than that I would definitely recommend Monks for a date or to go with family.

If you love beer, this is the place to go. My husband and I have been going here for years and the beer selection is always excellent. Even though it was late lunch/early dinner the place was full. We put our name on the list and headed to the back bar. The back bar area is cozy with a full... More

We went to a dinner where they paired Belgian style ales with each of the 7 courses at dinner. The food, beer, atmosphere, and waiter were all phenomenal.
