If you want an ACTUAL cheesesteak and have it be something you'll want to eat and enjoy, come to Not Just Pizza. Avoid Gino's & Pat's. They're tourist traps that will kill your wallet and your tastebuds. Their french fries are OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing.

Difficult to judge a place on just one slice, but how do you mess up dough, cheese and pepperoni? And I usually look at pizza like I look at popcorn, even when it's bad, it's pretty good. This place manages to make you realize that with dedication and commitment it is possible to make tasteless pizza. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Got a buffalo chicken cheese steak, couldn't have tasted better. Loved each and every bite. Broccoli bites weren't half bad either. Seems like this is gonna end up being my new favorite weekly delivery place.

My parents came to visit and wanted pizza one night. This place is a block from our house and since we'd never tried it, thought to try them given my folks had also bought a Restaurant.com gift certificate for here. We got a cheese, a pepperoni and a Hawaiian. I can't be for sure but the crust didn't taste freshly... More

Northern Liberties continues its slow march to gentrification and I would say Sonata Restaurant fits right in. It is situated in a new (or rehabbed) building and has clean lines and simple decor. The food is what I would call small plate American--good quality but not the massive portions some might better find in a South Philly eatery. Our group... More

What a disappointment. way overpriced for very small potions, left the place hungry and disatisfied after spending nearly 200 dollars including tip and we brought our own drinks. THE LOBSTER PORTION WAS ABOUT ONE SMALL CLAW MEAT AND 2 BITS (LITERALLY) OF LOBSTER TAIL. THEY MAKE TWO $27. ENTREES OUT OF ONE 1 1/4 SMALL LOBSTER. DISGRACEFUL. WHAT A RIP... More

Have eaten here pretty much since it opened and it is consistently good and always creative. A little off the beaten track if you will in Nothern Liberties it is worth the trip as the restaurant is a nice oasis. Pork belly appetizer is one of the best in Philly. Entree of shortribs always good. To polish it off they... More

Four of us enjoyed dinner at Sonata just before Christmas. I have to agree with previous reviewers about the quality of the food and the excellent service. We all enjoyed our appetizers, entrees and dessert. It is a small restaurant and there was a large party seated against the back wall. Nevertheless, the energetic conversation did not distract from our... More

We had a very nice meal at Sonata. Chef Mark is great at combining culinary ideas, and the food is both interesting and delicious. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable. Bring your own wine, though. The restaurant is tucked away on a side street in Northern Liberties, but finding it is worth the extra effort.

Sonata is a brief cab ride from center city hotels, but well worth it. The restaurant is located in the hip Northern Liberties (NoLibs) neighborhood. The dining room is not large, maybe 15 tables, but they are nicely spaced so dinner conversation is possible without competing with other tables. The decor is simple, modern and appealing. The staff were friendly,... More
