From the moment we entered this fine restaurant with it's smells of garlic, simmering sauces and grilled fish, to the beautiful rich wood bar and surrondings, its magnificent wine list and the creative wonderful chef's creations, we were so pleased by our dinner at this...More

You can tell when a restaurant is trying or just running on momentum. Unfortunately the latter is the case with Jay's. Everything is average except the price. Too bad. Dayton needs a good seafood venue.

Anybody who can say they planned on going to Red Lobster instead of Jay's definitely has a deficient view of seafood. Jay's is a treasure, not just in Dayton, but Ohio and countrywide. We are seafood fans and compare Jay's to the best places in...More

Jay's is to seafood as the Pine Club is to steak. We have been around to remember the Old Yankee tavern that Jay ran in the south suburbs. Jay and family know seafood, Dayton, and wine. Probably the best downtown Dayton restaurant. We seem to...More

Soft Shell crabs and Fisherman's platter were excellent. Took a chance on the Fisherman's platter special (shrimp, scallops, haddock and oysters) and richly rewarded. Service was terrific. Highly recommend

We spent a night in Dayton between flights - and needed a place for dinner. In the phone book, I found this restaurant, with multiple awards for its wine list - so we decided they might know what they were doing and decided, despite doubts...More

Jay's Seafood Restaurant has been family owned and operated for 41 years. Specializing in fresh seafood, steaks and fine wine at reasonable prices. Our story is rich in history. During the period ranging into the late 1800's, Dayton was one of the leading areas in the nation for flour milling. One of these mills, located on the Miami Erie Canal, was known as the Joseph Kratochwill Dayton Corn and Grist Mill. This building was constructed in the 1850's. Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight you are dining in the former Dayton Corn and Grist Mill.. In 1882, James Jacob Ritty opened the Pony House Restaurant. He commissioned wood carvers from Barney and Smith Car Works to turn 5,400 pounds of Honduras Mahogany into a bar. The fruit of their labors is the bar you now see standing in Jay's. Join us seven nights a week for a great dining experience
