It's expensive for what it is. The food is ok. There's no real atmosphere. The waiters aren't great. Service was pretty damn poor. The waiters congregate by their counter and whisper. Quite unprofessional. The bakery is the best part of this establishment but I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. I won't be going back. Disappointed to sayb the least.

We did the brunch thing one Sunday. Unfortunately the wait was too long and when it arrived had no bread with it. Usually when you run behind in the kitchen, it is good custom to put bread on the table, so people can munch on it while waiting. The place wasn't too busy either.

They served me a stale fruit tarte, even though the salad was good. They even decorated it with a flower petal. This is not a good place for pastries.

Every time this place can give you a incredible dinner! The wine list is amaZing and when you eat something from their menu you can be with your mind really in the middle of FRANCE! Great place

Snap pea salad was very good. Cheeses on cheese board were not anything special.....seems like they were purchased at a supermarket. Server was nice.

Yes, there is a bakery so you can buy on your way out the same bread they served you plus much more. Beautiful decor and well lit for a cheery atmosphere. Bustling even at late weekday lunch when I stopped by to eat. Food was very good. Fairly new in the area. They also have a good wine selection.

Just horrible place – the crème inside éclair was gray and smelled rotten. We bought a bunch of things there and all of them went straight into the garbage.

While visiting New York we stopped in Layayette French Bakers and had some of the best pastries I've ever eaten! (Great service too!)

I have been to this bakery once a week for the past year and can't get enough of their pastries. Amazing all the way... I am from Italy and know a good pastry when I eat one! Definitely worth stopping in to try a treat!

How can anyone buy pastries from a bakery that sells "drunken negro face " cookies. I thought this is 2009 and not 1969? Wake up America this is not funny anymore.

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
