My second visit to a Hill Country - the last one was in DC. As usual I over ordered (does everyone?) and ended up taking home food. The ribs were great, the chicken and links too. Happy hour drinks are great value. This time I over indulged in sides - collared greens, German potatoes and coleslaw. All fab. I just... More

We were craving meat. Steak .. this is not a steak restaurant. It's more slow barbecue. .unusual ordering system. Each customer has there own card and gets marked off . Meat served and wrapped in a heavy greasproof paper . Sides are extra and . Expensive . Side salad looked like it came from supermarket in plastic bowl ,and hot... More

Wonderful restaurant with great brisket, honest ribs, phenomenal tri tip and well prepared cold smoked sausages. Collards and slaw were delicious too. I noticed some reviewers found the bark on the brisket too peppery. I don't agree. They adhere to true Texas style rub which is salt, pepper and a little spice. That's all that's needed to showcase the finely... More

This restaurant was in the Time Out top 10 places to eat in midtown. I cannot understand why. This is without doubt the worst value for money I've ever experienced. Very average service, but it was the food and prices that made it so bad. $100 for 2 ribs, 1 sausage, paper cups of coleslaw and (cold - should be... More

I didn't realize there were two Hill Country restaurants right near each other but I looked at the first one that came up which was Hill Country Barbecue Market so we decided to try this spot out. The hostess handed the 4 of us each a Meal Ticket card. There are two separate lines...one is for the meat and the... More

The short rib, while expensive at $30 / lb is simply out of this world, and I would say its better than the brisket (which is also amazing). We also had the cornbread, mac n cheese - everything was superb. Highly recommended!!

We'd been to the Brooklyn branch and loved it. The food is superb. Service by waitress Heather was excellent. The system for busting food is a little confusing at first. Nice drinks too!

Visited this place on a Friday evening with my mum. Despite it probably being aimed at a younger clientele we were made to feel welcome. I had booked and I was glad I had as it was packed. Thought the 'order your food at the counter' might be confusing but it wasn't. The staff were really friendly and helpful explaining... More

Returned for some good BBQ, remembering our visit last time we were in NY. My partner is a Texan and we both love brisket and sausage. This place is pretty alive and once you get into the routine you can have a great time. The temptation is to end up with too much food and care is needed when you... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
