In a word: Great! I've passed by this place many times and have always planned to dine here someday. Well, last night five of us decided to give it a try, and I'm glad we did! The bread was amazing, the appetizers terrific, and the entrées were all very well done. We had the Plaki, zucchini cakes, a salad, and... More

Really interesting restaurant. Food good, fresh with a good variety. Suggested the appetizers. Wine list good with Italian wines.

We visited a family member at Hospital for Special Surgery and was looking for a place for a quick bite. Restaurants.com listed this restaurant and rated it well, so we took a chance. Wow! The Baked Spinach entree was a slice of heaven. The best blend of flavors I have ever savored in a Mediterranean palate, well maybe in any... More

The lamb shank was seasoned to perfection and falling off the bone... Turkish bread hot and fresh just from the oven 4 different eggplant relishes for the bread each better than the other Tip included $51 per person a really good value

We were all wowed over! The six of us ordered a number of dishes and shared. The large flat but puffy bread arrived warm and appealing with two dips, one spicy, one not. And then the fun really got started! We had 5 appetizers, each one seemingly better than the previous. I particularly loved the salad with both fresh herbs... More

Turkish food was on our must-have list on our trip to New York City, and A La Turka was just around the corner from our friends' house. It was our first meal in NYC, and it was wonderful. We sat outside, and the ambiance wasn't really awesome. The sidewalk is sloped and cracked, leaving the tables sitting at odd angles... More

We had hummus, eggplant salad, sheperd salad and fried liver as appetizers. They were all very good. The Turkish bread was hot when it came and went very well with all the appetizers. For the entrees, we had the lamb and chicken kebabs, and lamb shank. The lamb kebabs were tender and flavorful. For appetizers, we had baklava, including the... More

A neighborhood favor and the best Turkish food for at least 10 blocks. An extensive menu, very heavy on Turkish food but with a few Mediterranean dishes mixed in. Lentil soup was Fresh Turkish okra was mixed baby okra, tomatoes onions and rice. Perfectly prepared okra and not it all slimy. Efes beer served by the bottle and very cold.... More

I stopped by here after a doctor's appointment only because I was starving and the menu choices posted outside looked tempting. It was fabulous! What a find. I've gone back twice already and plan to go again this week with friends. You can make a meal out of just appetizers, they are so good. And the portion size is pretty... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
