A La Turka is located right next to another excellent Turkish restaurant (competition must be fierce!) Before we got our appetizers, we were given warm bread with 3 different delicious spreads. I don't usually eat bread at restaurants to avoid losing my appetite however the bread at this restaurant was irresistible I must say. I tried their beef manti dish... More

We were meeting friends (they were bringing two small children) for lunch on the Upper East Side. The Thai restaurant they chose happened to be closed for lunch when we arrived, forcing us to change plans quickly on a cold, rainy afternoon. They chose another Thai place but when we arrived it was crowded and cramped, especially when you consider... More

It was a average place, average food, good service average prices. Wine is expensive, but overall you have better options. Good for small get togethers not great for date nights

In a word: Great! I've passed by this place many times and have always planned to dine here someday. Well, last night five of us decided to give it a try, and I'm glad we did! The bread was amazing, the appetizers terrific, and the entrées were all very well done. We had the Plaki, zucchini cakes, a salad, and... More

We visited a family member at Hospital for Special Surgery and was looking for a place for a quick bite. Restaurants.com listed this restaurant and rated it well, so we took a chance. Wow! The Baked Spinach entree was a slice of heaven. The best blend of flavors I have ever savored in a Mediterranean palate, well maybe in any... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
