I'm lucky this place is in my neighborhood, which is home to some of the city's priciest fine dining restaurants. Lovely space and excellent service. The host offered a warm welcome and came by during our meal to say hello. The food, of course, makes the place as worthwhile as it is. Yummy focaccia to start-- I was hooked immediately!!... More

Disappointing experience! My friend made a reservation here for her bachelorette dinner per a great recommendation and I was left underwhelmed by the service and atmosphere. Eight girls dined here for a special occasion but our waiter did not make us feel welcome at all, and did not even acknowledge the bride to be. She even wore a sash and... More

Went recently with friends...recommended by a real Italian from Emilia-Romagna region and was totally thrilled to find new Italian food options. All of our choices were delicious...especially happy with my gluten-free gnocchi(!!!) With lamb bits in a Lambrusco reduction. Everyone agreed after tasting it that it was an excellent choice. My hubby's lamb chop was a nice size. And the... More

Food is exceptional.......authentic Italian. I am 100% Italian and this is a special restaurant. EVERY meal we have had there is outstanding. We have returned a half a dozen times. The pastas, almost all homemade, are cooked to perfection. Seafood dishes incredible. And don't leave without ordering their Gelatos (generous size). Service is extremely friendly and FIRST-RATE. Good value for... More

While visiting my friend in Manhattan she suggested Via Emilia for dinner. As she frequently goes to this restaurant we all went with her recommendation of the Lasagne. Great choice! The service was good.

We ate here the other day for dinner, the food was delicious. The prices are reasonable, the restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. The owner came over and said hello, which was very nice! They have specials of the day and a nice selection of wine.

The food at Via Emelia's is OK. Nothing spectacular, but adequate. The truly disappointing thing about our experience there was the service. It was inattentive, at best. Two of our party were served a full five minutes after everyone else. Water glasses went unfilled, and our needs were generally ignored. One member of our party was never served the dessert... More

We had three boys with us and William treated all of us (grandparents, parents and rambunctious children) as family. Our time at his restaurant and talking with him afterwards is one of the highlights of our trip to NYC. I highly recommend anything on the menu that suits your fancy; we ordered from a wide range of dishes--pasta, appetizers and... More

In no accident that a restaurant stays in business in New York City .. It means it has built a following , through , consistency , great execution , friendly and attentive service .. Via E is simple in its menu but the complexity of his simplicity is what's so amazing .. At a first glance the restaurant is somewhat... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
