Great food, but you had to eat in the dark under loudspeakers. Crabs are messy to begin with... but add to the fact that you cannot see your food, it's really more difficult to enjoy the great tastes of the food. I will miss their food because it's no longer open as of November.

Was a bit put off at first as they said they were closed and did not give any further information except a muttering of 5:30. After discussing it we decided to go back and they really improved. The food was amazing! Went for pork buns, soft shell crab and duck. Simple and intense flavors! Well worth a visit!

this is one of our go-to's in the neighborhood. food is delicious and fun. we still talk about the quail egg dish we had last winter. we don't love how crowded and loud it can get, but with outdoor seating this is quickly remedied.

Fatty Crab was recommended by a friend and I will now trust all of her recommendations on life going forward. This was by far the best meal of our 4-day trip. Arrived spent from a day of sightseeing and shopping and instantly relaxed and soaked up the casual ambiance. Staff was super friendly and helpful with menu stategery. Favorites included... More

Had the wonton soup and a freezing cold beer, which were both delightful. Lovely little setting, but you are essentially sitting on the pavement in rickety seating with noodles. Despite that rationalistion, I really enjoyed it!

Had a Groupon for this, probably wouldn't have tried it otherwise. Tried pork belly for the first time, excellent. Shrimp, duck, everything we had was very good.

Always good food with great cocktails. Crab chili sauce is the best. You can get just the sauce w bread for a great appetizer. Micheladas are also very good.

Wanting something different we decided to try the Fatty Crab. We had the sliders, pork, duck and crab. The portions are small, but the food was good. It was well seasoned, but not overly spicy. The service was good. Drinks are exotic in taste and price at $12-14 each and a few rounds can add up. The entrees were also... More

We visited with a 730 reservation when we arrived there were two tables seated and we were seated immediately. Our server informed us that dishes were served family style and he would tell us if we needed two or more orders of something. An order of pork buns was $14 and vegetable bun $11 one order had two buns. The... More

We asked if we could wait five minutes for friends to arrive and were told we could not as they run a tight schedule to make sure they can make the most money from their tables. Contradicting this we were then promised the food would be served "family style", though none of us recall family meals were we were so... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
