Went here on our last day in NYC as we realised we hadn't yet enjoyed a New York Cheesecake! We ordered a couple of the small cheesecakes to go. While the topping was lovely and creamy, I would have preferred a slightly stronger base with...More

Tried the original and amaretto. Both were nice, soft and not too sweet. The crust is thin and melts in the mouth too. However, my personal favourite cheesecake are those from Hokkaido with a thicker crunchier crust to contrast with the softness of the cheese....More

The cheesecake was good, but nothing too special. And the restaurant is small with limited seating so that's a con.

Very friendly staff and cheesecake was perfect. Not too sweet with the perfect texture. Two to stay, two to go! Make the trip!

Stopped off in middle of a very hot day for cheesecake. We had amaretto cheesecakes which were small but lovely. It’s a small place and not exactly cheap but well worth it given the quality.

I love cheesecakes and these are by far the best I've had so far. They are freshly made every day and they have so many flavors it is hard to choose which one I was going to try. We had plain, dulce de leche and...More

Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita
maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant
retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for
“North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to
be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is
popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of
the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry,
Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping,

I do not know anyone who has done this, my guess is it is dependent on time in air and security... Easier to have shipped properly for a small fee.

Funny how the Q&A invite-to-answer system works. I got the sugar free one but not this. The answer here is much simpler: Yes. But melumar already told you that. ;)

Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake for my growing wholesale business. I hadn't considered the retail aspects of the business until people started knocking on the door of the bakery wanting to buy cheesecake. With that encouragement, I purchased a bakery case and began to conduct retail business. Soon after our cheesecake attracted the press and we were listed in "Best Bites" in New York Magazine. Radio station WOR rated us "Number One Cheesecake" and we appeared on television quite often whipping up batters of cheesecake. Time passed, and now Cleveland Place is in a popular area where the mix of people and restaurants and shops are so unique. Downtown is becoming the "place to be", and we are actually on most maps now. We survived difficult times, and now "let the good times roll"!
