Levain delivers. We came in expecting one of the best cookies based on reviews and some friends’ recommendations... oh boy did they deliver! Get the chocolate brioche whilst you’re at it, too.

I make sure to stop here every time I'm in the city. I'll even make sure to buy an extra one to bring on the flight home. Grab a cookie, walk over to central park, and enjoy.

Seriously, the bakery is worth the wait. The cookies are SO tasty and worth the indulgence. And the baguettes are so fresh and perfectly made.

This review is for the location on Amsterdam and 77th (I didn’t see it listed here). The line was long, but it moved quickly and service at the register was very good. The artichoke pizza was delicious. Cookies were a bit sweet for my taste.

Let me state upfront that the space itself gets a rating of 1-star. It's sooo cramped, and what's REALLY irritating is that tourists BLOCK the sidewalk to wait in line. *So if you visit, please be considerate of the rest of us who live nearby...More

I saw many bloggers post about these cookies, and I was so excited to try them. I had the chocolate peanut butter one, and it was so worth the wait. I can't wait to go back to New York and have these again!

Expect a line when you get here. Cookies are huge at $4 a piece, with flavors Chocolate Chip with Walnuts, Double Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Peanut Butter. Cookies are served straight from the baking sheet so they will be warm with the chocolate still...More

I would say 1-2 days. The decadent cookie is soft and the chocolate gooey. Just had them again yesterday!

Nestled in New York City's Upper West Side, Levain headquarters is a cozy neighborhood bakery where locals are greeted by name. A steady stream of loyal regulars stand side by side with tourists, eager to sample the legendary baked goods. From an inventive array of rustic breads to the world-famous six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie, everything is baked on-site, fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. What doesn't sell that day goes to help feed the hungry-a mission that has been solidly in place since the beginning. The bakery was founded in 1994 by friends Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes. At the time, Connie was in banking and Pam in Fashion. The two, both competitive swimmers, trained together for the Ironman and-not surprisingly, as their tireless workouts left them feeling starved for great food- they began a passionate dialog about creating the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie. Within just a few years, Levain Bakery had become a neighborhood institution and a destination for epicurious travelers from around the world. Demand continued to grow. In 2000, to satisfy their regular clientele summering in the Hamptons, the two opened a second bakery in the village of Wainscott on Long Island's East End. And today, through their website, they now ship their world-famous cookies to happy fans around the globe.
