We got here with my Mom for lunch on early Friday afternoon and the place was packed. It’s a very popular spot and we now know why! The food was excellent, from the perfectly backed bread to fresh olive oil to freshest salad and awesomely...grilled octopus. We enjoyed outside lunching with much good vibe and people watching. It’s a special pleasure to eat well and watch beautiful ladies walking by looking hungry! Lol. Enjoy!More

Amazing restaurant! Great location and cutest interior. Highly recommend trying the Negronis on the cocktail menu, the cacio y Pepe, octopus and ensalata verde on the food menu. 10/10 !

A friend who lives nearby introduced me to this bright star of a restaurant. There is outside seating with heaters but, since this seemed too cool, we opted to sit indoors. In all honesty, this was not much better as they had the door open...and lots of cold air pouring in so we had to eat with a few layers on. The food and service made up for the chill in the air. There are a number of excellent typical and creative Italian appetizers, salads, pasta dishes, and entrees. The wine list focuses on Italian wines and has some very well selected options from different parts of the country. The decor reminded me of a French bistro. All in all, an enjoyable experience and I will be back. Generally this is a super busy restaurant so reservations are often necessary.More

Obviously one expects great food from a restaurant with this reputation but the whole experience was just stunning. The reception, staff, setting and service match the beautiful dishes that kept surprising. A very satisfied and enjoyable lunch have here.

Food mediocre. Very expensive. Had a waiter named Miles who was abrasive, rude and totally unhelpful when I asked if I could get a salad wout the dressing…a flat, I DONT THINK SO! A person who was clearly on drugs came right up to the...outside tables and management did nothing to stop it. Best part of restaurant was the bus boy named Daniel who was helpful and lovely. Don’t bother with this restaurant. All hype and no value whatsoever. So many better restaurants in NYC!More

Visiting New York for the weekend I had the pleasure of dining at the bar twice. Shelby was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and professional and friendly. I enjoyed the meatballs with pignolis and raisin , also the orata with escarola. I...can’t wait to return. Sincerely, Joseph BuonincontriMore

As a walk in, they promptly offered a seat at the bar, the staff was very nice, and the menu seemed small, but after you dig into it, you discover that they have a very good selection, and the plates were exquisite.

I dined there last week for dinner with my son and it was sublime. The grilled chicken and crusty bread with butter and anchovies was delicious. Can't wait to return. 😋

Via Carota is only serving in their outdoor enclosure and reservations are very limited and hard to get. Nonetheless, we had an early lunch slot and delighted in two longtime favorites: grilled artichokes and the Meyer lemon risotto. The artichokes are my spouse’s favorite and...I consider their risotto food for the gods. It satisfies on so many levels. In addition, we enjoyed the fritto misto, although I thought it was a tad on the dry side and could have been cooked a bit less and/or served with more lemon wedges or some aioli. They are encouraging ordering on your phone, but they will also give you a paper menu. Now we know to use our phones for the next visit!More

It depends on the day of the week. You're probably better-suited though, generally speaking, to go towards 2pm, after the lunch-rush.
