We were pleasantly surprised by this gem on Park Avenue. The atmosphere is quiet with mellow lighting and comfortable tables. Definitely allowed for good conversation without any disruptions. The wait staff was good although there seemed to be several people asking us the same questions initially. They sorted out who's table it was pretty quickly. There is a fun specialty... More

Enjoyed a nice lunch with a former business associate. It was a Monday, not crowded, at all. Service was attentive and friendly. I had basic fare - Miso, Spicy Tuna and Salmon Avocado. The quality was good, not amazing. My friend had the special which looked quite good, but fairly expensive - $30. I've been to other Harus in the... More

A hidden gem in Gramercy Park, wide selection of Japanese/Asian food. The sea bass is very fresh and tasty Steaks are well prepared also but definitely go for the sushi

$20 a head for very good lunchtime sushi deal that fills you up and leaves you satisfied. Couple that with cheap draft happy hour beers and a friendly service and you can't go wrong!

Wish I knew about Haru a long time ago! Such value for money. The food are magnificent for the price range and the wine list is pretty good too. Great food, good wine, what more is needed for a fantastic lunch break. The menu has a good variety and it's not all sushi. Do step inside.

I love Haru Gramercy Park and go there frequently. The food is consistently excellent, the atmosphere is very upbeat without being noisy and the prices are reasonable. Sometimes the service is a little uneven but that's ok, given all the other positives. My only minor complaint is the background music used to be wonderful jazz and R&B and now is... More

For me, the sushi was excellent... Except for the smoked Eel. I would have rated it 5 overall because I loved the variety (The spicy Scallop & the Urchin are not very common on takeout sushi from the Gansevoort Park neighborhood). I really enjoyed the meal watching TV. However, my friend didn't like his order at all. The Tuna wasn't... More

We dropped in here by chance on a recent visit to New York. The 3 of us chose the Bento Box special and were pleasantly surprised. The food was nicely prepared, portions were generous and the price was fair. Service was good and we would probably not come again as there are so many choices in NYC - but do... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
