My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and were seated at the counter. We were greeted by and served by, what we think, was the owner. We ended up going with what he recommended (the egg white omelette) and it was fantastic! What a great little place to have breakfast. We loved it!

Visited this place for breakfast every day I was in NYC. The breakfast were amazing and the place is a little hidden gem and totally understated. Recommend if you want a reasonably priced breakfast and friendly service.

I was disappointed in the bacon which seemed to have come out of a packet, crispy style. I asked for turkey bacon but I've never seen it like this before - dry and tasteless. Maybe that was the regular bacon and they gave me, not that that is an excuse for dry tasteless bacon!! Also scrambled eggs looked a bit... More

We ate here a couple of mornings and enjoyed a good meal at a reasonable price. The service was good. My only complaint would be that, like most of the restaurants we visited in New York, they were slow to bring the check. This restaurant seemed to be popular with locals.

Another cafe not too far from our hotel so we popped in for brekkie and weren't disappointed. Food was very nice, along with the service. $30 for two good sized breakfasts, two coffees and pancakes to share. Excellent value for money!

Visited here for lunch with the kids and menu looked decent outside so we stopped in for a quick bite. Menu is pretty large and is everything from breakfast all day to burgers and sandwiches and entrees etc. Staff was friendly but like any NYC restaurant, it was close quarters and the booths were tight. Ordered a few grill cheeses... More

It was around the corner from my hotel so I ate there several times. I needed larger breakfasts for the long days of walking. It's a diner so it worked for me.

I stumbled upon this gem during the height of winter storm Jonas when the city was effectively shut down. The Morning Star Cafe was one of maybe a handful of restaurants open, and as such, were getting smashed by orders for walk ins and deliveries. Through it all though, I watched a service manager keep his cool and stay honest... More

Friendly warm. With booths & counter seats. Small place. Food was awesome. Coffee was great. Customers mostly local- always a good sign. Lots of 2 go orders going out. I had avocado toast, my husband had eggs, toast, sausage & home fries. Home fries & sausage were particularly good. Eggs perfect. Huge menu of choices. Probably 20 different omelets. Will... More

I ate here twice (breakfast and dinner) and found the penne alla vodka to be really good. The menu is extensive and offers something for everyone in every price point. A real local joint, not touristy. Good service

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
