What a great place for breakfast. Quick service. Good prices. The food was great. Would return (we did) again and again

Ate breakfast here twice on a recent NYC trip, and will definitely be back. Although they call it a "cafe," in my book this is really more of a diner. That's not a bad thing! Wide range of choices, unpretentious service, a counter you can sit at, etc. Service was friendly and efficient on both occasions, although on weekend mornings... More
Lovely little cafe, no frills just friendly service, good food, nice coffee and lovely avocado on toast! We went for breakfast and dinner (different days!) And found both times to be good value with generous portions. If we'd stayed in NYC longer, I think we'd have gone back again!
Just about the best place to get breakfast in Mid Town. Super friendly and accommodating. Good is good and reasonably priced. Don't visit New York without a full belly, and don't miss this gem!
It's a bit deceiving when you first look in the window, but there is a restaurant in there. The staff is very nice and the food is very reasonably priced and quite good. I had the French toast, as did my husband, along with bacon and eggs. The coffee is very good too. We grabbed a couple of muffins on... More
A 24 hr cafe. What more could a restless tourist hope for. The cafe itself was very quiet and everyone keeps to themselves, perfect for someone like me that likes to go around unnoticed. Morningstar is becoming my regular Friday night diner where I hang out when I am with friends in midtown. They are not usually busy at that time as most goers are hitting the bars nearby. Service is quick and friendly and there are always plenty of spaces at the booth and tables. All in all a quiet place to eat... More
Had brunch here on Sunday - busy, but very short wait. In my opinion, a far better choice than The Smith across the street, which had a huge wait and has less delicious food. Morning Star has a wide range of breakfast and lunch favorites and everything we ate was delicious.

Hi, went here a few years ago and there was a fab lady on the counter, she ran the place like clockwork. She ran this job alongside teaching. Does she still work here?
