Was expecting something different for some reason. Very bright, lots of space. Went after the marathon on Sunday evening and wasn't too crowded.

Good food but simple and unremarkable. Would do back but more for lunch. Mac and cheese was yummy but I think I do it better.

Funky restaurant with an industrial meets surfer meets cowboy feel. The menu is filled with recognizable items that are elevated from every day to extraordinary. It was so hard to choose, but we started out with cheddar and jalapeno tater tots... really?... yes, really... but they aren't your average tater tots, they are lovely and crispy on the outside and... Had a great meal at Ditch Plains - a lovely friendly restaurant with great staff in a great part of the city. The menu was great and the cobbled salad was the best I had in New York. I still dream about it!

Sure, it was a disappointing dinner but what makes it worse is how much effort it took to get to Ditch Plains. An airplane, a subway, and a cab brought us all the way to DP. This place is owned by one of the Food Network stars so we thought it would be something new and really good. We made... More

Eclectic menu...all the food is fresh and prices reasonable. Big Over-sized booths and clean warm dinning area. Lots of locals...packed at Weekend Brunch but overall easy to get a seat.

Marc Murphy's Chelsea restaurant was a fun way to begin our NYC getaway. We arrived early enough to snag a table to watch a play-off game. The place is small, but it's a good small. Make reservations. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. Stepping out of my comfort zone, I ordered and loved the tuna burger with fries, while my... More

Went here during a three day visit to the city as a break from higher end eating. Nicely done, good service, decent food well enough prepared. Not a food center, except for the tacos, which were really good. Smallish and sufficiently cozy to make it work well even with the hard surfaces and holiday merry-maker crowd.

A quick dinner at a place recommended by many. A Backyard dog, sesame encrusted tuna burger and the surprise of the night, deviled eggs topped with a shrimp were all good. Washed down with a craft brew, all & all a good experience. Don't know the connection but with a surf board on the wall & surf videos being shown... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
