We googled "best chai latte in Manhattan" and Mudspot came up. And it happened to be right around the corner from our airbnb! IT was DELISH. And the breakfast food was outstanding too. Very charming place with friendly staff.

Love their avocado toast and French toast. They have a back room with see through celing filled with natural light. Highly recommended for brunch of breakfast. They serve food at night time. Coffee is delicious. Cash only

We found Mudspot by accident a few years ago and it is now on our list to visit every time we are in NYC. The food is great, the service is always great. Be sure to have a cup of hot chocolate!

Cute hide away to experience East Village breakfast culture. The food was delicious and fresh. You find all the typical menu options. The covert back yard seating was very nice. A great place to start your day!

I visited Mud aka Mudspot on Saturday morning with my two business partners as we were seeking a chilled out place in the East Village for an early breakfast. Upon walking into Mud he immediately get a sense of laid back, healthy, coziness, characteristic of places in the West coast and rare in New York City. The breakfast menu did... More

My girlfriends raved about this place so decided to make this an important stop to meet with family. Very eclectic, staff was friendly and most importantly the food and coffee were great.. Will definitely come again!

If you like a place you don't have to brag, so I'll keep it simple: very cozy atmosphere, relaxing and calm music, nice service, and above all: hell of a breakfast (the earlier you go the less crowded it'll be). They even have Tompkins original bagels there, which is a double plus!

We met friends at Mudspot on 9th street between 1st and 2nd Ave. They offer delicious coffee and a terrific menu for brunch. Try to be seated on the patio in the back.

This place is very average for what it is . Was recommended it so we made a special effort to go. My breakfast burrito wasn't anything amazing but it was very filling. Girl friend got the sour dough French toast which was good but way too many almonds. Maybe I am past the age of "hip" locations but I didn't... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
