This place is where real New Yorkers go to for lunch or dinner and a couple of drinks. Its not well known which keeps it the way it should be. The back story of how it got its name when the BAR light broke is...classic.More
I used to go in this place at the end of the 80s while I was living in nyc. Went back a few days ago and I have to confess that it does still remains one of my favourite places in town. Let's be clear...the menu is not 2 stars michelin but it is good, solid and tasty and the prices are super fair. But what does really make this special this place is its atmosphere and its ambiance and customers. No trendy, stylish and snobbish characters but nice families with nice and well mannared (not screaming) kids, people sitting at the counter drinking some drinks. A place like this is definitely uniqueand rare nowadays in NYC. Should be granted UNESCO status.More
If you love good food and great jazz, make sure to stop at the Ear Inn.
The EarRegulars with Jon-Erik Kellso are amazing. I couldn't stop smiling with the great sound and really amazing atmosphere.
Had the salmon for dinner and it was very good....Just cannot say enough about how enjoyable the experience was.More
The Ear Inn is definitely worth a visit if you want good quality food, good value for money, and an interesting history.
This bar did not appear in our guide book, we only found out about it through a passing mention in a newspaper article....Subsequently we learnt from local New Yorkers that it's a place that they regularly go to, so if you want to avoid the tourist traps go here! That's not to say it's not busy.
Tip - don't be put off by loud music, if you move to the back it's much more cosy and quieter.More
