Classic bar, decent drinks, a pub-y menu. Old school vibes, loud and dark. Good for catching up with friends. Would go back again.

I end up in Union Square on a lot of Saturdays. I have been to just about every restaurant in the area over the years for lunch. You have your over priced hipster places, the places not sure what they are, places charging to much...for so-so food and then the Old Town. It does not try to be anything other than a good old school pub. Food is decent, it is a pub, you are not getting the Top Chef folks in the kitchen doing exotic things with the food (plenty of places in NYC for that over priced stuff), but the folks in the kitchen do a good job with a nice simple menu, which I like. Service has always been great too. Okay beer selection and a lot of liquor on the shelf, though I only go for the beer. I have been here with the family a few times too, and they are okay with it (the youngs kids would rather be at Big Daddy's, I can't blame them for that, you are not getting a cookies and creme shake at Old Town). As long I am spending my Saturdays in Union Square, I am coming to Old Town for lunch.More

Started in "mini" pub crawl here. Frankly a good place to start because the bars got better as we went. This place had an authentically old and genuine feel to it. The food was only alright and the beer only a little bit better, but...what a place to while away some time, looking at the walls! Recommend for a drink if you're in the area.More

Stopped into this bar after a business dinner. Really love Old Style Taverns and this place does not disappoint. Really old decor, GREAT service. Fun place. Loved the atmosphere.

I went here for dinner one night and was quite surprised how much I enjoyed my meal. You have to order the wings as an appetizer. For my entree I enjoyed the grilled cheese with mushrooms (governess choice). My food was amazing and the service...was great.More

Met a friend here recently, oddly as a life time Ny'er my first tiem here. Yes, the interior is pretty in an old time way and it has history. But the bartender on shift, old man, took my drink before i finished, never gave my...husband his drink and had a really hard time remembering more than 2 drinks at a time.More

So if you're looking for wings and reasonably priced beer in the Flatiron/Union Square area of NYC, this is your spot. The bad news, the bartenders are cranky and don't check on you super frequently, and that's the end of the bad news. It's also...the only bar with a real history (100+ years), and down to earth, normal crowd in the area. The chicken wings though are why you come here. And on a Tuesday night, this evening, the place was getting nice and crowded by 5:15pm. Wine? Yeah, white and red, and that's as fancy as it's gonna get, and don't even try and order Prosecco like my female friend did, cuz they don't have it. Beers, wings, and you're set.More

We stopped in for a couple drinks as we made our way back to our hotel. We were there on a Friday evening around 8 pm and it was still holding on to its after-work crowd. The bar staff weren't the most attentive but the...building itself is a grand old dame - still looking good for over a hundred years. And any bar that is celebrating their urinals (see photo) is worth a visit.More

Me and my friends just wanted to grab some beers after a long day touring the city, and the waitress was “kind enough” to bring us the bill an hour early before their closing time. Then the lady from the cashier came with a terrible...attitude to see if we were done arrageing our payment.More
