My friend and I stopped in for a quick and light lunch before the theater, knowing that we were having a big dinner afterwards. The waiter was not very friendly in fact he was downright rude because all we ordered was soup and passed a nasty remark about the fact that we weren't ordering a full lunch. ot make matters... We've come here often. This time we brought some friends. Our entrees were: ribeye, stuffed cabbage, pastrami sandwich, and a burger. (Don't be like our out-of-town friend who asked if they could make it a cheeseburger.) Everyone was happy -- the food was good, the price was right -- what's not to like? Of course we'll be back. Note: their... More

Spent the day in Manhattan, and someone on the subway that if I was going to Times Square I should "walk down to 38th St and get a little deli". So I checked out Ben's and had the pastrami and rye served with slaw, a kosher dill, and 2 half pickled cukes that I did not enjoy so much. Next... More

A long-time favorite, Ben's is an authentic Kosher Deli with food that would make Bubbie and Zadie proud. Sandwiches are big and tasty, don't overlook the hot dogs or knishes, and enjoy!

Ben's is a NYC classic, big, noisy, full of people and...good food. Must try the overstuffed deli sandwich, the beef Franks, excellent cole slow...try everything!

My wife and spent a long weekend in NyC for the first time so we wanted to try some of the various ethnic places for dinner. Ben's was a block from where we were staying and the menu was enticing. I had the stuffed cabbage rolls and my wife choose the Hawaiian chicken. Both were excellent and plentiful - we... More

I like this place - nice entrance, not ambience, nice staff. Food was great - I stuck with the basics - hot pastrami with potato salad. If you are looking for a good deli in this area, it's worth finding it, there are a lot of chains and so-so restaurants with "deli" in the title, you might as well have... More

If you are looking for kosher food in midtown Manhattan I would definitely recommend going to Ben's kosher delicatessen. I took the grilled chicken and the rest of my family took steak and burger all were kosher meat. The nice thing about it is that the place is open on shabbath too (they have interesting way of doing it). We... More

We really wanted an authentic Jewish deli meal during our first trip to NYC. We had tried to go to Katz's earlier in the week, but that turned out to be frustrating ( described in a different review). We were so pleased to find Ben's Kosher Deli! It's large, comfortable, and the food is great. Such a contrast to Katz's.... More

My daughter and I ate dinner here last Friday, looking forward to the Deli experience. It was our first trip to NYC and the restaurant was within a few blocks of our hotel (see separate rating on Elements Hotel). The restaurant was bright, noisy (quieter after a group of students left). Our waiter was friendly and presented a tray of... More

Description
To some, delicatessen is something you put between two slices of bread. To me, it's a calling. I am committed to preserving the traditional cuisine of my Eastern European heritage, amidst all that's required to operate a modern restaurant. This is our pledge, from the Ben's family to you: Fresh food, freshly prepared and courteously served in a clean, well-maintained restaurant faithfully observing the Kosher dietary laws. I urge you to bring anything less to my personal attention by calling 1-888-344-BENS or filling out my "Ask Ronnie" form and submitting it with your questions or comments. Your complete satisfaction is our goal. Any concerns will receive my prompt attention. - Ronnie Dragoon - Owner.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
