We had breakfast here today with friends! The food was authentic (we believe) and super yummy! We tried things that normally we might not and we were happy we did! We can't say for sure what we ate, but we did love the experience and the food!

We think shu mai, baked pork buns, etc improved over a few years ago, but the prices have gone up. That has not discouraged people from coming. Very busy any day after 11am in my experience

88 Palace is a perfect place for a lunch time dim sum break. Old fashioned carts with a large variety of dim sum move around the dining room. Even though we were a little late for lunch, we had the most delicious har gow (shrimp dumplings). My husband enjoyed the chicken feet. Our table mates were a young high school... More

Go under the Manhattan Bridge and you'll find it on the top floor of the mall. You will also find some of the best dim sum you will ever have. In fact, when I lived in town, I made it a point to bring all friends and family who came to visit me to try it out. Minds were blown.... More

88 Palace is located on the 2nd floor in a shopping mall type building under the Manhattan Bridge. Can be hard to find. Arrive between 11:30 and 1:30 and witness a sea of chaos in an elegant dining room with lots of carts filled with wonderful Chinese dishes. You can get your fill for cheap!

This is a true Chinese experience. It is located under the Manhattan Bridge on the 2nd floor of a Chinese style mall at 88 East Broadway. It is out of the tourist area of Chinatown and where the "locals" go for Dim Sum. It is a very large room filled with tables occupied with mostly Chinese families. . . .... More

Almost no waiting time on a Sunday despite the fact that we were 8 people. Really good dim sum - especially the shrimp dumplings seemed to have a lot more shrimp in them than most other places. Also the price is right.

Swedes were definitely a minority' in this busy restaurant and we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the small plates offered at the table and the unknown flavours that came with each. Highly recommended if you want to get the "real feeling" in China Town!

Down under the Manhattan Bridge steps from the Eldridge street synagogue on the second floor of a Mall that could be anywhere in Asia is a sprawling noisy Dim Sum restaurant. Slightly off the beaten track of what is generally considered to be Chinatown in NYC is a more authentic and certainly a 'lower' type of Chinatown. Groups of Asian... More

We do love this old school dimsum place. It's literally right under the Manhattan Bride on the East Broadway. The entrance is through a shopping mall. 88 Palace is located on 2nd Floor - one floor up from the entrance. The majority of guests is chinese/ asian - which is a good sign. Not touristy!!!!! The waiters come with their... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
