Looking for a nice restaurant near movie on East 86th street we went to Ithaka a very pleasant Greek experience. We each had a drink. They presented a choice of whole Red Snapper, Branzino or Orata. We were not in the mood for a $35.00 fish. So we had a small Greek salad and each Stuffed Eggplant and Grilled shrimp... More

I had the delicious appetizer of spinach and feta cheese pie (2 per order). Completing my meal was the meatballs in tomato sauce, listed under the heading of appetizers. It was just okay.

My friend and I had a lovely dinner at this delightful Greek restaurant which is very close to her apartment. My favorite was an appetizer of flambé cheese Saganaki . The pasticcio was very good and the baklava for dessert was delicious. Service was excellent

Our first visit. Arrived 5:30, no reservations. Seated quickly, one other couple there, given menus. We've eaten in hundreds of Greek restaurants in the US and abroad and want to support Greek restaurants. Served Ouzo by the glass, in the right Ouzo glass $7.00. A dish of ground roasted red peppers, came with warm pita. No olives. Mezes: backalau (tough,... More

I usually come here with my parents since they love Greek food, and especially seafood. Don't fret, if you're not a seafood lover they do have other options such as lamb or chicken. Kapamas is probably one of my favorite lamb (in tomato sauce) dishes in the city. They also offer a take out option if you're in the mood... More

I liked this place but am very hesitant to give it even this 4 star rating. I love a good greek restaurant, but I want to get what I want to order, not what the waiter wants me to have. My waiter was so pushy, I finally gave in and got the octopus. Although it was good, it was nothing... More

No Need to go to Astoria just come here. This place has some wonderful Greek specialities including octopodi done to perfection, grilled fish served with those incredible fried potatoes, the usual dips and some excellent wines to go with. Of course there are some fattening desserts on the strong greek coffee to finish the evening. Service is professional and well... More

Ithaka was absolutely the BEST! The appetizers were delicious and so nicely presented. Then came the entrée course! Wow! My husband and I had pink snapper which was cooked to perfection. Two others in our party had shrimp and several had red snapper and lamb. The restaurant is spotless clean and beautiful with white washed walls and picture of Greece. I... More

I went here with my daughter, right after spending the afternoon at the Met Museum of Art, which is about 6 avenues away... And we had a wonderful experience! First, we walked in realizing that the people in front of us had made reservations; though we hadn't made any, we were still seated at a great table and assured there... More

I went to this restaurant twice this week, so this review will include both visits. I started off the first dinner with Kotosoupa Avgolemono (chicken soup with vegetables, rice, egg, and lemon juice), $7.50, which was very pleasing (see photo below). My next course was the Pasticio (pasta layers with chopped lamb and beef, topped with béchamel sauce), $20, which... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
