We had lunch here a week ago. The meatball sub was very mediocre. The great bread saved it from being bad. There was a surprising lack of flavor, sauce and meat! The homemade potato chips are good..but from our 2 sandwiches, one sandwich had just a few old chips and the other...a large pile of fresh ones. Why?? The Mile... More

Stopped in for a a quick lunch on an off day at an off hour. We shared a bake ziti and each had the grilled chicken small hero with the hearty Italian bread with the terrific tomato sauce and the homemade potato chips. This is a place where the construction worker, the clerks, recent Muslim immigrants (this neighborhood was the... More

this has been one of my favorite neighborhood casual restaurants for decades. manganaro’s is a longtime hell’s kitchen staple and the originators of the six foot hero (as certified by the outcome of numerous lawsuits with their feuding clan, who used to own a similarly-named joint next door). manganaro's provides good solid authentic Italian fare, even though the price has... My colleagues and I usually get lunch at "Maggies" 2-3 times a month. Over the last 6 months or so, we've noticed it going downhill. We always get the Chicken parm. I assume they think their customers are stupid because they've been cutting the chicken cutlets in half, if not thirds. I suppose they expect the breading to make up... More

I was working with some friends at the Jacob Javits Center who had been here during the week and suggested we return here for lunch. Nice location, pleasant staff and good food. I had a Mile High Special which includes a lot of the Italian Meats with cheese, roasted peppers, lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar. I enjoyed it very much.... More

My daughter lives close to this place and she suggested it. I was a skeptic because I've often ordered chic parm subs only to be disappointed. Well this was excellent. The chicken was crispy and tasted just like it should. The mozzarella was yummy. I highly recommend this place if you want a good sandwich. They serve pasta also. Take... More

You can't go wrong with an excellent chicken parmesan sandwich, so I'm glad you had one here with us at Manganaro's! It sounds like your daughter knows a good sub when she sees one. Of course, we can't wait to have you both back again soon. Have a pleasant week ahead, Manganaro's Hero Boy More

This place usually has a B rating & sometimes even a C. Last time I stopped in for some meatballs for a quick lunch & it gave me massive heartburn. I've never gone back!

Stopped in here with two families of four. Full of locals...no tourists, so you know it's good. Awesome pasta, hero sandwiches, chicken parm. Not expensive. Everything home made. Bread a little soft but wouldn't stop us from coming back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
