Don't bother going here. From the outside it looks like an inviting fun retro diner. Inside it's just depressing. We were just about the only customers there. The waitress came over looking almost annoyed we were there. Zero expression. Zero personality. Zero interest in us. Took our order as though we were putting her out and she was doing us... More

It's my 2nd visit here in past 6 months and it was just as good as I remembered it. This time I sat down with a nice draft beer and took in the New York City winter atmosphere. Can't wait for my 3rd visit to Artie's.

Since my daughter lives on West 84th St, whenever I visit, I have to go to Artie's Deli for my tongue sandwich. They heap the tongue high, and put great pickles and coleslaw on the table as well.

I went to any darn deli in NY, Queens, Brooklyn, Hoboken, Westchester, Eastchester.... everything. I took notices, i reviewed everything and my friends and i had such a great time. Sometimes... Stopped in here and had a good bowl of smoked eggplant soup followed by tuna melt. Everything was tastey , large portion and excellent fast service

Tried this place for the first time since we try to frequent local establishments. We were met with a grade "B" health department rating and should have left immediately. We purchased chicken noodle soup that looked like the Lipton box instant type - mostly water and tiny noodles; no flavor. The split pea soup was tasteless; we even like Campbell's... More

This is a classic very good old-fashioned deli. Service was curt but courteous and efficient. Melted tuna sandwich was very good although the center of the tuna was still cool. Pickles were classic deli. Pricey but what do you expect? Recommended.

I know I am a tough critic around food and restaurants. Not bad but not the flavors we were expecting. Somewhat bland Reuben and Matzo ball soup. Not on high need to return list next time I'm in NYC!!

The reviews on here do not match our experience this evening. They no longer serve rice (update your menu then), had completely run out of pasta and shrimp. The salmon changes species between ordering and meal delivery the fries were stone cold and the one piece of salmon that did make to the table was a cheap nasty bit they... More

A classic NY deli. Sandwiches are good sized and the extra lean pastrami (have to order it that way) was super lean. A sandwich will set you back around $15-18, but worth it. Finished half and took rest wrapped up. Soup was an extra $6. Not great and was pretty cold. Would've been nice to have bowl of pickles served... More

Description
Legendary restaurateur Artie Cutler's (of Carmine's, Docks, Ollie's, Virgils, Gabriela's, Jake's, Columbia Bagel's) last project was to build a great 1930's New York Jewish delicatessen. When Artie passed away his wife Alice and her brother Carl joined Jeffrey Bank and Chris Metz to finish this project. To rediscover and recreate the flavors of 1930s homestyle Jewish cooking, Jeffrey and Chris tried hundreds of heirloom recipes and talked with people who lived through the era.
