Went there for lunch on Thanksgiving weekend, food was delicious. Lunch sized portions quite manageable. Had the sauerbraten, what else, and it was perfectly paired with a potato dumpling and red cabbage. Friendly wait staff, very welcoming place.

This restaurant is an authentic touch of Germany in New York City. The atmosphere is intimate although it can be noisy. We visited in early December and the Christmas decorations were lovely and added a sense of old world charm. Prices are moderate with some...More

The Heidelberg serves excellent and simple traditional German food. Compare their schnitzel with what you get at the Cafe Sabarsky (also in 86th St). At Heidelberg"s you get a tasty, tender and spongy pork cutlet that is a great pleasure to bite in; comparable to...More
