A very disappointing meal. We were in and out in an hour - it was meant to be a birthday celebration. It started well with some beans which were tasty. The artichoke salad was very average and the main courses awful. The special lasagne felt like it came from a value supermarket. A plate of 'extraordinary' vegetables had undercooked aubergines... Several weeks ago we had the pleasure of dining at Supper. We walked right by it because they do not have a sign to indicate it as Supper. I inquired as to why? The nice lady at the door told me they did not ever have a sign. Anyway, it was a small place and we were seated by where... More

A foodie recommended, so we had to go... Wish we'd gone somewhere else. All in all, it wasn't awful, but nowhere NEAR what I'd expected. To start with, it was hot inside and crowded. It's an unremarkable space (and the reason I say this is cos I can barely remember anything about the inside). Our server was curt and unfriendly,... More

The place doesn't look good and the service is weird, but the food was quite good. Nothing exceptionnal but I enjoyed the originality of the brunch options.

In need of some highly authentic good old fashioned Italian food? if so, Supper's the place. So tiny, I missed it the first time I walked by. But, once I found it, I saw about 8 tables and 5 seats about the bar. And yet, it's not really a bar. Rather it's a bar overlooking the chefs who are quite... More

We found this place by accident - but what a gem. The pasta was delicious - especially the lemon pasta, that was a whole new pasta experience. The restaurant is very cozy, and it is possible to dream, that you're somewhere in Rome. Which is always nice, when you are in New York:-) They do not accept credit cards, which... More

Had dinner for eight on a cold Saturday night. The place was jumping with an energetic young crowd. We loved the retro decor and the food was amazing. I didn't love my cocktail (a little too sweet and too flat) but the burrata made up for it. Cash only was a bummer, but it was nice that they had seating... More

I have been going to Supper for years now, and it's always a solid affordable Italian meal with nice atmosphere and great service. For an added bonus, book the private room for a special occasion with a prix fixe menu w/ wine. You can choose your own music and really set the mood!

Service was horrible! Food was so, so. Drinks very expensive and were not great! Had six people at dinner and nothing that we got was interesting or that great. Skip it! It is all cash so be prepared for a huge cash payout!!

Honestly, this has got to be my favorite place for dinner. Fabulous fresh Italian fare that rivals much more expensive eateries. Lively crowd, good wine list, excellent service, and big cocktails! ... What else do you want from a restaurant? Their sister restaurant Lil' Frankie's is just as great and their literally a block and a half from one another.... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
