Restaurant week in NYC provides an excellent opportunity to try food from many restaurants at quite affordable prices, so we took advantage of the price fixe menu that Chez Josephine offered. We were more than glad we did. Chez Josephine is a bistro style restaurant,...More

We visited recently and enjoyed the experience ! Also, piano music nightly with a prefix menu starting at $30 for show goers! A little off the beaten track and a few might not like the beautiful paintings but for most, they will be delivered back...More

This bar is popular for the after-show crowd. It is nicely decorated in an homage to Paris; there is generally at least a piano player if not a trio playing there. It's fine. I don't think it is very French but it a nice place...More

I read all the reviews on this restaurant and decided to try it. My family and I were disappointed with the food quality. We dinned at 7pm and we informed our waiter we were not going to a show. My crab cakes were very crumbly...More

The food is always delightful at Josephine's, with ample portions and impeccable service by seasoned waiters. Not to mention the old world charm and pianist playing show tunes. I don't normally enjoy a piano bar, but their choice of old show tune music post theatre...More

I would definitely consider this an upscale place, great for a birthday dinner. And certainly, wait for the theater crowds to leave.

The last of its kind near 42nd Street, Chez Josephine is a neighborhood gem founded in 1986 by Jean-Claude Baker as a tribute to legendary Josephine Baker. This Parisian bistro offers live piano music and a tantalizing menu in an intimate setting of red velvet walls, a cavalcade of chandeliers and a blue-tin ceiling. Guests receive a warm welcoming and are treated as family whether coming before a show, after the show, for a leisurely dinner in-between, or a drink at the zinc bar.
