We arrived a few minutes before 6 PM and enjoyed a cocktail at the bar; the cocktails tend to have whimsical names, the two we tried were very good. After being seated, we explained we were gluten free, and they were able to provide a wonderful experience all gluten free. We started with bone broth, which is how we found... More

Hearth used to be amazing but my dinner last night was a whole grade or two down. Had the steak which was tough like hide. The gnocchi used to melt in your mouth but now they were like gnocchi anywhere. And had the fava bean salad (special) which was an F. Fava beans tasted like they were poured from the... More

We booked via Open Table and turned up and everything worked smoothly and they were expecting us. We sat down ordered a bottle of wine and the chefs tasting menu. The server asked if we had an allergies and they took on board that we didn't want any dried fruit in one of the meals. When the first course came... More

I really liked this place, it has a warm atmosphere with a casual friendly staff that are attentive to service. I choose a glass of wine that was definitely my fault, but the wine selection was huge and the food is spot on. The manager introduced herself as I was leaving to ask about our dining experience and it was... More

Loved the brick walls with painted murals. Unique dishes, with healthy sized portions. Great for room for conversations. More than adequate table spacing for privacy.

Really beautiful setting and a cosy atmosphere. The menu is varied and inviting. Friendly staff and a warm buzz about the place. Will be heading back next time I'm NYC!

My partner and I always think "restaurant week" is a good excuse to explore restaurants that we haven't visited to have a taste of their meal before we "commit" to their regular menu. Well let me tell you this, we were not disappointed. Every dish we had was deliciously prepared with the right balance of ingredients and flavours. We will... More

Hearth has maintained its high quality for a number of years. The cooking is terrific, the ingredients are well thought through, and the service is congenial and professional. We came here with a large group of friends and sat in the back room. The wait staff could not have made us feel more welcome. We had a large variety of... More

This restaurant is just ok. The food is good but not impressive. What's not good are the portion sizes! There is no creativity, innovation or rare ingredients to excuse the minimalistic plates! Totally overpriced!

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
