Cozy restaurant, homey atmosphere. They offer daily specials. We had the ribeye steak (delicious, prepared exactly as requested, fresh asparagus), pasta (generous portion, great sauce), salmon (nice portion). Had there tiramisu for dessert which was delicious. So glad we stopped in.

Mediocre at best. There is nothing in food, drinks, service and atmosphere that is memorable about this Flatiron District restaurant, The cuisine is a mixed bag of Italian and Mediterranean fare. The price for drinks and food for a New York location are very reasonable. If you are a Groupon certificate holder, you will not get points on Open Table... More

The food was pretty good. The service was as bad as I've ever had. (we don't have to be waited on hand and foot either) About nine people in the restaurant, manhattens were served in a water glass. we had to go to the bar and ask for bread. One we got our food, we never seen the waiter again... More

We started our dinner off with cocktails. I had a lemon drop martini and my husband had a Gary margarita. Both were well made with quality ingredients. For appetizers: grilled octopus which was excellent and caprese salad-the tomatoes were excellent in flavor and texture the mozzarella cheese could have bee a touch better but all-in-all a good choice. Entrees: pasta... More

MasonJahr...Thank you for the review. I am pleased you enjoyed your meal and had a good experience here at ALEO. We work hard and have been doing it for years, to try and please each and every person that comes through our doors. I will look into the mozzarella, especially since we make our own on premise here at ALEO.... More

Had dinner with friends. We shared the special salad as an appetizer. Entrees included red snapper, ragatoni with meat sauce and chicken scarpiello. All were excellent. The tiramisu for dessert was delicious. Wine by the glass and bottle is very reasonably priced. We would definitely return again. Service was attentive.

We went to Aleo midweek at about 2:30pm, so we had the place to ourselves. Sat in the large garden area a great break from the city. They had both a prix fixe lunch for about $22 and a lunch sandwich menu for $15. Both were great deals. The prix fixe menu include a good selection of apps, a main... More

We had a group of 4 for a celebration dinner. This was a great choice. We had a wonderful bottle of red wine suggested by our server. It was reasonably priced. All of our entrees, salads and deserts were delicious. The service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

As a native Italian, my standards be a little higher than average when it comes to Italian food, but this place was a terrible food experience. We ordered calamari and it was tasteless rubber. We ordered tagliatelle with mushrooms and parmesan sauce and it was a very poor dish with no flavour. Service was great (a friendly Italian waiter) but... More

Triestina...We are sorry you were unappreciative of the food. Unfortunately, it is hard to please 100% of the customers. As you know, there are many regions in Itaky with varying palates and customs. perhaps your customs and palates differ from the regions our family here at ALEO is from in Italy? Also, we apologize for the texture of the calamari,... More

Aleo was recommended to us by a local. We were in the neighborhood last Saturday evening and decided to go in just to have a cocktail at the bar. But the staff and service were so great, we decided to stay for dinner. The bartender (I think his name was Anthony), was so helpful and hospitable, and he gave us... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
