Went for family lunch on a recent visit to New York. Great neighbourhood cafe. Busy but such a relaxed atmosphere. Food (largely Moroccan) was delicious and great value. Would definitely return and recommend to others

Although I've been to Mogador for dinner on several occasions, I especially love to meet people for lunch, or even drop in alone on a whim when I'm passing by. The lunch special of soup or salad and a tagine at less than $14 is an absolute delight. The soups seem homemade and the tagine offerings are excellent. They also... More

We had a good time at cafe mogador. We had to wait quite a bit at the bar to get a drink, then the waitresses were not super helpful but our food came sort of fast and tasted good, although simple. Nothing too crazy, but nothing bad bad either

After being turned away from one restaurant for dinner, we found Mogador Cafe. The neighborhood where the restaurant is located seemed a little sketchy to me but there were a lot of people around so I felt somewhat safe. Restaurant was packed which could be a good sign, and it was. My son and I ordered lamb dishes which were... More

My favorite brunch spot. I've enjoyed everything I've ever tried here. The food is perfect. My only complaint is the absurd lines and wait times, they've gotten really out of hand lately.

Our son took us to this neighborhood restaurant when we visited last year and it was at the top of our list to return again. We had an early dinner before the theater and before the crowds. Our server was so accommodating in ensuring that we left in time. We started with the cheese yogurt and we all had Tagine... More

Okay, I've been to mogador on more than one occasion, at varying times. Typically I'm a creature of habit, so I only know my standards. Don't miss the "gambas" they're awesome, fried in garlic, chilli flakes and bay leaves. The lamb tagine is great and the mixed grilled is also delicious. Brunch breakfast is usually filled with locals the atmosphere... More

We were recommended to visit this cafe for brunch. Unfortunately we weren't in town at the weekend and visited on a Tuesday. It was raining heavily when we arrived and the cafe was chilly and a quarter full. The coffee and juice were really good quality and the breakfast pancakes were especially fluffy! We had high expectations of this cafe... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
