Only 10 people can be seated-with 4 places very cramped. The owner is positively rude, although he warms up a little if you praise his food. The Israeli-Middle Eastern cuisine has very good salads. The three on the felafel plate, led by cous cous, are above average. Baba Ganoush was good. Baklava was top notch and the caffeine free Azuri Dream... More

I've heard a bit about Azuri Cafe. It's pretty decent, but nowhere near the best. The famed falafel isn't anything special, especially when you opt for the pita sandwich where you only get 3 pieces. Additionally, as compared to other competitors, $8.50 is a tad higher than usual. I think the sides are actually what wins customers at this place.

This is one of the best Israeli/Middle Eastern restaurants in New York City. It is a small hole in the wall that only has a couple of tables and most people take the food to go. The flavors and freshness are incredible and the salads are very fresh. It is very reasonably priced and it's only open for lunch.

We visited Azuri Cafe as part of the Food on Foot Tour (highly recommend this tour). The Cafe is a small space but the falafel was excellent. We didn't get to sample more of the menu due to the tour. We'll come back if we're in the neighborhood again.

Great 100% homemade Israeli food from the pita to falafel. Just delicious. Small place worth the distance. Not a lot of ambiance but I will come back again.

I had the Falafel and the Chicken Shawarma, one of the best meals I ever had! Although, very limited seating.

I love this little place. A very neighborhood spot with terrific and fresh Israeli food. Has lots of character that is rapidly disappearing from Manhattan. Try the large falafel platter and you will be amazed!

We tried the shawarma pita, falafel pita, and chicken shish kabab pita. All really fresh and really good. We liked each item in the order listed. A must visit!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
