A staple of NYC Japanese cuisine for over 20 years now. Last visit, we got the curry soba katsu which uses a slightly less thick broth than the rice curry. It doesn't come with the unlimited cabbage so I would recommend sticking with the regular katsu meal seats for extra value.

We all liked it, a good variety of dishes and a pleasant place. Friendly service, clean washroom and good prices. One dish is enough and is very good. I'll be back for sure!

If you don't mind reheating food, their take out counter has very reasonable deals. By 2-ish in the afternoon after the lunchtime rush, they refridgerate all their pre-packed lunch containers for resale later in the afternoon. It's usually a hit-or-miss with their offerings, but the magic hour does not begin until 5pm. Often, I can get dinner for 2 people... More

I food was not nice, had no free soda refills, pork was chewy, came here for a nice katsu curry and was really disappointed, never again!

This is New York, so Katsu-Hama wasn't any different from other establishments in terms of size. Even though pretty tiny, it had a cozy feel to it. My friend and I went there on a Saturday evening so we had to sit at the bar, since the other spots were filled with young people enjoying their meals. I loved the... More

Walked out of a place farther uptown so we had to search our phones and ended up here. It turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. They seated the five of us comfortably and fed us well and quickly with excellent and helpful service. Hint: ask for a knife and fork if you're clueless with... More

I had not been here in years ( and I had a great dinner last time) but was disappointed this time as the kurobuta Katsu was soggy, the cabbage at least 3 times thicker than last time and the sauce watery. It is still good but I know they can do better

Busy little restaurant serving an absolutely amazing Kurobuta Katsu. Never ate Kurobuta pork that good outside Korea or Japan.

Japanese food for a good price. If you like this kind of food, go and make a visit. You won't regret it.

Go here for lunch if you're craving for a tasty meal without the benefit of an expense account (well, even if you did have one, the food here is well-worth the trip!). The katsu here (berkshire pork) with a side of cabbage salad (and the awesome onion sauce with sesame seeds) is the must-have lunch dish. If you're trying Katsuhama... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
