Living in the Flatiron district gives you many choices for sushi. On East 20th street, for example, Mizu Sushi and Sugarfish are pretty much next to each other. Sugarfish has name recognition and is fairly pricey. Mizu is a local restaurant and has been around for quite a while. A good friend and I decided to give both of these... More

Food took forever but it was decent quality and a good place if you are looking for a heap pad Thai that takes 40 minutes to be served.

With a 4 hour wait for a table at Sugarfish on a Sunday night, we decided to give Mizu a try, which is located two doors down. And while it doesn't have the hip ambiance of Sugarfish, the sushi is very good and the service is prompt. The Jurassic roll is amazing as is the salmon hand roll. The Katsu... More

I suspect several of the reviews are fake. This place is not excellent. It is in need of a renovation and has a terrible smell. The sushi was very bland. The tuna roll was terrible. The jalapeño it the yellow tail and jalapeño was more like a green pepper slice.

I take my clients here when I am in midtown. Their sushi is excellent and their service is great. We were there as a party of two and they thought we were crazy for the amount of food we consumed. I really like this place.

Food was good and reasonably priced. However the scz tofu was horrible. They took forever and it was not good at all. Rest all dishes were good

Great little place on a side street with sushi that was creative and delish. They had cocktails on the menu but when I got there was told they only had wine, beer, sake. Super disappointing...next time I'd order take-out and have a drink at home.

Excellent Japanese food at a very reasonable price. Very attentive service as well. Would highly recommend the Mizu Bento - excellent choice at $20 for a wide selection. Sushi very good as was the tempura.

We wandered into Mizu Sushi last night and had a delicious meal. Often Japanese is fairly pricey but this menu was very reasonable. The bento box not only looked good but each item was properly cooked and served at the correct temperature. The tempura was very light - no gooey batter or heavy oil taste. The vegetables were slightly less... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
