I have been to this restaurant many times over the years because I live in the neighborhood a few blocks away. The place is usually crowded and very noisy, so I try to get there early. The prices are high, as indicated by other reviewers,...More

As is typically with NYC dining this place is small, so make a reservation. Inside is crowded, but back courtyard (where I dined) is lovely and quaint. Service is friendly and efficient. We started with Medium Guacamole - which was perfect. I chose the white...More

Stopped in for lunch on Sunday. It was fantastic. The margarita was amazing. Highly recommend the Atun: A tuna and watermelon Cheviche'!! Yummy. The Saudero tacos were to die for. Smoked Brisket: need I say more. The guacamole was great. I can not say enough...More

Enjoyed multiple taco dishes (cerviche tacos, grasshopper tacos), Carnitas entree, guacamole, and cocktails. The cocktails were incredible (loved my mojito), as was the guacamole and chips. Service was great and atmosphere energetic and authentic. Will definitely return! Great Churros dessert and coffee too.

The rooms are crowded, noisy, and not especially pretty, but there is a nice garden. The food, with eclectic riffs on Mexican ingredients, is consistently quite wonderful. Servce is friendly if erratic.

Oh Yummy! Guacamole, fresh warm chips, paella with fresh lobster, clams, shrimp! Quesadilla of short rib and bone marrow too much goodness on this menu. The best part it's all fresh and prepared in a traditional fashion. Drinks are delicious with a wide selection of...More

This place is awesome. The front part is quite noisy and busy with the bar and some tables, the middle section is kinda quiet and the rear room is where we were. The cocktail list is incredible, with all sorts of tequilas, mojito, caipirinha and...More

Experienced Toloache on a Saturday night for dinner. Reservations are definitely recommended for this place. It was absolutely packed and there were multiple people waiting to be seated. Luckily, I had reservations and was seated as soon as I got my glass of wine at...More

We went with our three young granddaughters at 5:45, an hour we would normally be deciding what to drink. The place was already packed. First, the good news. The mild--for the little girls--guacamole was excellent. So were the churros the girls had for dessert. My...More

Description
Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina's contemporary Mexican bistro located in the Upper East Side. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina's creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Along with the authentic Mexican menu and an exceptional tequila list, we offer elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. We look forward to seeing you soon.
