After a Broadway show, we wanted a quick snack, so we had the cab stop in Chinatown and ducked in to Old Shanghai Deluxe for some takeout. They were friendly, even though they were closing in less than a half an hour. The food came out pretty quickly. And it was just okay. The dumplings were on the doughy side,... More

The feeling of stepping into this genuine and cozy restaurant from a chilly raining china town to be greeted with a hot cup of tea is a feeling that's unbeatable. My waitress nice and patient. The food was excellent. The establishment is clean and friendly and I will definitely visit again.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Food was good and the staff was very nice. Initial serves seemed a little slow.

Had dinner here one evening. It wasn't our first choice, but that restaurant was closed. Found this restaurant, and their dumpling menu looked good. he food and service were great. The dumplings were delicious. The restaurant itself is perhaps looking a little tired, and untidy in places, but having tasted the dumplings, don't let that put you off

This is the place at 100 mott st., called shanghai deluxe cafe. We got the pork dumplings, which are soup dumplings. They were great! There were five of us, so we got several items. The eggplant with garlic sauce was excellent. So was mixed veggies, sweet and sour chicken, lo mein noodles with pork - Big noodles like udon- and... More

Like the title says, love the food, and the service is fast... maybe even too fast! But eh? It's Chinese. I still love the food no matter what speed.

Poor quality of food. My son ordered ribs and when they came there was blood coming out of the ends of the rib bones! Yak! They must have been taken out of the freezer and deep fried but were uncooked in the middle. Surprisingly when we pointed this out to the waiter he didn't quite understand what the issue was.... I have to stop here when I'm in NYC. As usual for Chinatown, you can eat on the cheap here and get filled up. I order hot tea, soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and spring rolls and it's almost too much and around ten bucks. Service is polite and efficient. I've only gone during the day at odd hours so it's... More

I went here because my cousin recommended it for me, she eated here last fall. She especially praised their wonton and forged me to get Wontons in spicy sauce. Service were good, three different waiters came to ask me is everything OK. Atmosphere were also good, mainly locals with few tourists. Right away when sitting down comes tea which were... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
