The service at the start of the evening was not good, after a 23hr trip from Australia we were hungry and needed food, after complaining we got allocated the best server in the house, he was attentive and very apologetic, he made great recommendations with food and when we ordered steak kept us informed of its progress from when it... My friend and I wanted to just e not an outdoor fun spot so we walked over to this place and we had a pretty good time. It's usually pretty energetic and although crowded, it's still a lot of fun. Great to watch soccer games at if you're rooting for Germany!

The Standard Biergarten is one of the most happening spots in the city to enjoy the months before it gets too cold to be outside. Enjoy pretzels and beer in big steins. There are even some games like shuffleboard and ping pong!

Good beer (in large, large glasses) and wonderful large and salty pretzels to generate the type of thirst that only beer can quench. A winning combo. Not five stars because the whole ticket thing is a farce. Its not clever, fun or authentic - its nonsense.

On a hot summer day this was the perfect spot to get a great German beer and people watch. We beat the crowds everyone complains about. There was a large range of ages when we were there. (Mid afternoon.) You sit at large picnic tables or highboys outside. There is inside seating as well. I'll go back the next time... More

You might say that the Standard Biergarten (SB) is overrated, in the same way that a lot of the open-air venues on the West Side are: Grand Banks, the Frying Pan, etc. However, just like those places, this is less a reflection of the quality of the place itself (which is great), than how long it can take to get... We went here for drinks before dinner. It has a large outside space. They have mixed drinks in addition to beer. They sell large pretzels and have ping pong.

This was a place 21-30 year olds. Didn't know about the ticket thing. Bought tickets at $9 each but they are only good for draft and sausage part. The other part of the bar is where the mixed drinks are. It was definetly festive - met some interesting people.

Cool concept- and beer was pretty good. There were a lot of "bros" there, but seating is such that you can meet a lot of people!

This biergarten is in such a cool location. The beer was good and came in large quantities and I felt like there were plenty of places to sit. We didn't eat anything, but someone near us ordered some sort of sausage plate and it looked/smelled really good. I will go back because the location is cool and in a great... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
