I have been here three times with a small group. The fish is fresh, there is no doubt, and the presentation is most attractive, but the dishes are prepared in ways that I just think are over-thought. Sometimes one just wants a simple dish without...More

Fishtail is a fish restaurant, although there are a couple of meat selections on the menu. The varieties of fish are varied. The $45 three course prix fixe menu is especially attractive and offers three choices for each course. If you order lobster the waiter...More

The soup de poisson is very good!!! The salt roasted fish as well and they come to show you the fish before serving it. Just one "negative" point : a glass of wine is too expensive ! ! Ridiculous!

As this restaurant is only 1 1/2 blocks from our home We eat here ten or twelve times a year. On New Years Eve It seemed a "slam dunk" for us to dine here with friends. We all know that restaurants jack up their prices...More

Celebrated two friends' birthdays there last night. The food was unpretentious, while at same time delicate and so good. Of note: the lobster dumplings, Brussels sprout salad appetizers, and for main: roasted halibut with caramelized chicory and hazelnuts: divine! The decor is nothing that'll blow...More

We stopped in to have light appetizers and wine and it was a disappointment from the get go. We received the wrong appetizer and we're told to just keep it because they would just throw it away. My wife slowly ate hers but by the...More

My wife and I wanted to treat ourselves and we certainly did at Fishtail. Terrific service and very nicely appointed elegant townhouse on the UES. We ordered the grilled red snapper for two and it was one of the best pieces of fish we've ever...More

David Burke, you're skimping on a city that is willing to pay for both good food and service. I have come for both dinner and brunch with impeccable service and my last visit this October was such a disappointment that I will not come back....More

Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere a bit too "white" for my taste-and waitstaff had an ever so slight "edge" .

Description
In 2008, The David Burke Group unveiled Fishtail, an innovative seafood concept located in a beautiful townhouse on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The restaurant seats 130 people in a vibrant bi-level space that features a lively 16-seat bar. Fishtail's menu is replete with fresh fish and shellfish selections - including Salt Roasted Branzino, Blue Fin Tuna and Whole Sea Bream. Many offerings illustrate signature creative spins - highlighting flavor and technique - such as Nori & Mustard Crusted Tuna, Braised Beef Cheek, and Lobster Rigatoni. Fresh-from-the-sea raw bar items round out the menu beautifully for any fish lover. The Sunday special, Lobster Louie, is a three-course lobster dinner for $45. And on Monday through Saturday evenings, Fishtail's seasonal prix-fixe dinner features three courses for $49. Fishtail offers the freshest seafood provided by the company-owned fishing boat out of Brielle, New Jersey and the Hunts Point fish market. With the sustainable seafood movement gaining momentum, the menu reinforces our belief in maintaining the integrity of each item on the plate.
