Macao Trading Company was a new try when visiting Tribeca. Originally hoping for a nice, quiet Friday night dinner catching up with friends, we walked into a loud party with roaring music. I was a little off put because I didn’t realize that it would be a such a “party scene” for an upscale restaurant (if I wanted that I... More

This place serves a nice assortment of pan-Portugese colonial cuisine. Our appetizers were Macanese, my entree was Brazilian, and my dining partner's dinner was Afro-portugese. Everything was delicious. The cocktail menu is extensive and inventive, and if you prefer to pick your own poison, their selection of liquors is top-notch. I would definitely be willing to come back here, bring... More

better book long in advance as the place is packed ; the only drawback the waiters do not leave you the time to finish the plate so as to have the next customers and they pour the wine bottle to fill up the glasse so that you order another bottle !

Unfortunately we were seated in the basement inspite of having a reservation. 5 of us sat at a table meant for 4. Waitstaff was good. Took our orders quickly and the food arrived without much delay. The croquettes were delicious! The lamb shank was interesting, the meat well cooked fell off the bone. It lacked salt to my taste. Adding... More

The 5 of us had a reservation at this place looking forward to catching up with friends. Initial disappointment came when they seated 5 of us around a table that is narrow for 4. I ended up sitting at the edge of a bench while looking at empty tables across from the dining room. Most of us had lamb shank... More

I loved Macao. The restaurant is dim lit with candles and very cosy. There are a lot of staff so the service was always quick. The cocktails on offer looked amazing but I stuck with water. My glass was filled to the top every time it got half way without me having to even ask. The servers were extremely helpful... More

Cool restaurant with great atmosphere. The food was wonderful, very different from anything we had tried before. Solar to good Chinese but with a twist. The service was efficient, friendly and keen to explain about their menu. Try to leave space for dessert!

I came here with a friend for a bite to eat after the theater one night recently. Even at that hour, close to 11pm, the bar was packed and there were other tables dining. The food is very good. The menu is asian fusion and the plates are interesting and delicious. The service could not have been better! A must... More

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighbourhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.
