We decided to eat at Bobby Vans based on the recommendation of our hotel concierge before seeing "School of Rock" at the Winter Garden Theatre, and it didn't disappoint! The waitstaff was attentive without being obnoxious, and made sure we were able to get out in time for the show. The food was amazing - I had the skirt steak... More

We walked past here at first as we were dressed very casual and it looked quite expensive, but we decided it was our last night in New York and we would splash out. The service was excellent, although I thought the breads in the bread basket could have been fresher, my husband loved them. It was quite late so I... More

On our first night in New York we visited Bobby Vans. This place is very expensive, why are you told to pay a tip after I paid the bill? Service wasn't worthy of a tip. The meal wasnt the best and my steak was sent back because the steak came back rare , I ordered well done. Poor service for... More

The atmosphere is rich and feels upscale. It was crowded, but not overly so. It is a classic NYC steakhouse. Excellent, attentive service. The menu is impressive and is not limited at all to steak. Drinks are both delicious and generous. The entrees are just a bit pricey, but every bit worth it.

I generally hate restaurants, as I find the food extremely fattening / salty / packed with hidden sugar, overpriced / noisy / VERY NOISY. Bobby Van's is nothing like that. The quality of the food is truly outstanding and they have tons of healthy and delicious dishes. The fish alternatives are fantastic - I love the crab appetizer, shrimp cocktail,... More

We ate here the day we arrived and were not disappointed. The menu is extensive and quality of the food really good. Our waiter spent a long time with us too giving advise on where to see and what to do - a really personal guy. Just can't recall his name. Overall I would recommend Bobby Van's highly

Out of all the bobby vans steakhouse in manhattan this is my favorite. I would highly recommend reservations. The tomahawk ribeye is the best great marble and the bone adds extra flavor. The vibe in the dining area is always busy and vibrant but not too loud. Bring your plastic as the meals aren't cheap

Been here a bunch of times as I work nearby. Prices are high for lunch but food quality is very good. If they offer chateau briand its always tender and a good choice. The make a nice filet as well. Spinach and mashed can't go wrong. Good coffee. Bar is upscale. Diners are usually local suits and tourists. Service is... More

Took a date there and was concerned it might not be romantic enough, but it was a great place for a date. Went on an uncrowded Monday night so that might have helped. It was not noisy at all, quite quiet actually. Met at the bar for a drink and the experience there was top notch. Got a secluded table... More

Lovely ambiance and great staff. We has a super time here. Food is very american - huge steaks, fabulous hamburgers, and great crab cakes. If you want a good American supper this is the place. Not cheap though - $371 for six.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
