Awful customer service, with a manager that has zero people skills! This is a long review to put everything into context at just how awful and rude this place is! We came across this place whilst wandering through Times Square on our first day In...New York, and thought it looks like a good option as a family with children, so this place was our first meal in New York. We were seated quickly, but it took a long time for the waitress to come over and take our order. Walking to our table we spotted all the fun looking cocktails with stuff sticking out (little tubes, mini bottles of wine etc) so my eldest daughter and I decided it would be fun to try one and opted for the monthly special. The waitress said there was one ingredient missing, we were trying to establish which one, and how much it would affect it, but she became very short and snappy with us. Therefore, my daughter said just leave it, we'll just have a Strawberry Daiquiri instead, to which I pointed at on the the menu and asked my daughter if she wanted any of the extras in it, and she said no, just a normal daiquiri. I replied to the waitress, 'just two normal daiquiris then please'. My other two children, (one being a small 10 year old) ordered their drinks, and my husband a bud light. (I am explaining this in detail to highlight errors that were made later on). All drinks come in various sizes, 10oz, 20oz & 32oz. Coming from the UK, we don't work in oz, so no idea what to expect size wise, but presumed, as we hadn't requested large ones, that we were all getting the smallest ones. Our cocktails at $8.99 each, and my husbands beer at $7.50. They all arrive in the same size glasses, no clue if they are 10, 20 or 32oz size, having never seen any before. Our cocktails came with little tubes in, which we discovered was the alcohol, so we assumed that was just how they were served and we were to pour the desired amount of alcohol into our drinks. Looking around, everyones seemed to have something in it, so we just thought it was a quirky gimmick. The drinks were huge though. The children barely had any of theirs, I managed about half of my cocktail, and my daughter prob not even a quarter of her cocktail. As for the food, I don't recall it taking long to arrive, despite how busy the restaurant was, but it was not the best place we have every eaten. The ribs were good, but the steaks were not at all. One was mostly fat, and therefore my daughter just couldn't eat any of it, whilst the other was likened to 'no better than a 'spoons'. No one came to ask how our food was, and I was going to say something at the end - but it became apparent they really wouldn't care anyway! We asked for the bill and when received we noticed that all the drinks were a lot more expensive than what we were expecting, adding an extra $20.. Our cocktails were down as 'specials' and charged and $14.99 each and my husbands was charged for a different beer at a cost of $14, as well a couple of $ extra for the soft drinks. We called the waitress over to question it, and she walked off with the receipt, presumably to correct it - or so we thought. It was at this point that the rudest manager arrived asking us what the problem was. We were still calm and polite (at this point), so again pointed out the errors. He just pointed at our drinks and said 'well those are 20oz drinks'. I explained we hadn't requested that size, to which he replied 'well you've drunk them!'. I explained that even so, the price for the 20oz was still wrong! The cocktails were listed at $12.99, and the beer $10. OK, it's $8 I hear you say, but it was the principal by this point, and the fact the manager was so rude. He kept looking around whilst we were talking, at one point spoke to someone else - he had absolutely zero care for what we were saying! He then walked off, again, we thought to amend the bill - but no, he came back with the waitress and told us that we had ordered daiquiris with everything and an IPA! We explained my husband can't stand IPA, and if that had have been bought over we would have noticed and it wouldn't have been drunk - it was definitely a Bud light! And I recalled our conversation about a plain daiquiri with no extras. His response - by this point actually shouting at as, was 'So my waitress just got all your drinks wrong then did she?' YES!! Again, he just shrugged and walked off. By now we had no idea what was going on, but decided we wanted to pay the bill with cash as there was no way they were getting their $30 added gratuity, after the way we were spoken to, so my eldest daughter left to go and change up some money. I think at this point they thought we were going to leave without paying, as the manager stood with security staff pointing at us. The manager came over a few times, continuing to be rude and raising his voice at us. It was absolutely shocking behaviour, and by now my 14 year old was crying, that when she returned, I asked my eldest daughter to take the two younger children outside whilst we finished up. For some reason though, once we had the cash, he never returned to us so that we could pay at the table, so we made our way to him - the opposite side of the restaurant to the exit, so it was clear we were not leaving without paying, yet he bought security with him. In the middle of the restaurant, next to other diners, we handed him the cash (about $160 I think) which was the bill minus the 'discretionary gratuity' (as stated on their menu). He began shouting at us again, asking where the other $30 was, and that we had to pay it. We tried explaining what discretionary meant, and we weren't tipping someone who spoke to us the way he had done, or a waitress that couldn't admit she had made a mistake, but he wasn't having it and stormed off through the restaurant telling us he was going to call the police!! We followed him over to where there were other managers, again repeating it is 'discretionary' to which he shouted "it's fine, I've taken it off - just get out!' Overall, this is the worst place we have ever been to anywhere in the world! I mean, I've seen videos of those 'Karen's diner' places, and honestly - this could be one of them! You're in New York, there's plenty of places to eat - I'd avoid this place at all costs! Unfortunate for us that this was our first night, but thankfully every other eatery was so different, and tips were left everywhere else.More
