My girlfriend and I moved to the Lincoln Square area a few months ago. The diners in the area are either completely horrible or good but too expensive. We happened upon Old John's a few weeks ago on our way to the Apple Store. It's a delightful little place, very friendly, cozy and neighborhood-y. The food is better than average... More

A peaceful little diner on the west side right near Lincoln Center, this was a great place to stop for dinner. Nothing fancy, and a basic but solid diner menu. I had the meatloaf; tasty enough, but the gravy was what made it delicious. I wouldn't have minded a little more garlic in the mashed potatoes, but they were still... More

We had breakfast here twice and would strongly recommend it. The food was good - such fluffy pancakes - and the service personal and friendly. Popular with locals and with a really genuine feel to it.

I enjoyed Old John's Luncheonette. it reminded me of the Manhattan I knew thirty years ago, not fancy and not overpriced, but comfortable and cozy, a nice place for a long conversation with a friend. The burgers (both meat and vegetarian) were good, as were the French fries. The desserts looked enticing, but I was too full to try one.... More

We were looking for a place and I found this on Trip Advisor so we gave it a try. Definitely a neighborhood favorite (a good thing in my book). The waitress even asked the lady at the next table if she wanted her "usual". Service was friendly, quick and attentive. I had Manny's Chicken Rollatini (spinach-feta-stuffed chicken and rice) and... Old John's is a longtime family-owned neighborhood place - basic diner/coffee shop food (in NYC diners are coffee shops) such as grilled cheese, Greek salad, eggs etc. The kindhearted owner passed away a year ago and his son is now managing the place. Old John's is comfortable and down-to-earth. Staff is always nice to our children and older relatives. It... More

It's really unremarkable, so much so I hesitate to call it underwhelming. What more is there to say. I've been there 10 times in 10 years. Every time I was met with reasonable staff, the reason I give it 3 stars, but the food just didn't do it for me. Maybe they get a lot of business from the elderly... More

I don't think is a fantastic or even a good place. Went there in a few times, mostly for breakfasts. Some people probably like it. It's pretty expensive, compare to the place. If U lucky there is a very nice waitress there. Maybe the place is clean, bit its dingy. Not enough lite.

We took the kids there (6,5) and they both loved it. Kids friendly place that let's you color on the table. The food was good (veal marsala, omelette, spaghetti and cheeseburger). Great prices for NY also.

Had a traditional American breakfast. Service was very good and food was excellent, done as we asked.
