Lovely atmosphere in this intimate restaurant. We were sat at the bar towards the back of the restaurant. Upmarket venue with great food, wine and friendly service.

It was a very cold NYC evening when we went there and were, ahem, barely greeted by some bearded chap who kept us waiting in the cold outer room until he had time to seat us (yes we had rezzies). And we waited, and waited, until we left and had a drink across the street. Needless to say we were... More

Very high quality cooking and knowledgeable servers. The room is too crowded for my taste, and the tables are close to each other. Every place at the bar was filled with diners. Nevertheless, its a good Italian spot. I would go late ( after 9:30 ) and avoid the peak crowd.

I visited I Sodi based on the great reviews it received on Trip Advisor. I didn't have a reservation but upon arrival, the wait time for 2 was 1 hour. I put my name down and decided to walk around the neighborhood. After an hour of walking, I decided to check in and when I finally flagged down the host,... More

I Sodi is very small and intimate, so what I've read about the difficulty of getting a table makes perfect sense. I did not have a reservation, but after about a 20 min wait, we were sitting at the bar. The service was incredible. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond. I read the lasagna was supposed to be one... More

I had the opportunity to eat at I Sodi in December. Unfortunately I was supposed to meet my sister there who was working on movie set and ended up not showing up. Thankfully we had one other guest who although late, did arrive. The meal and service were outstanding but not being a New Yorker or having been to I... More

I Sodi is our absolutely top restaurant in NYC. We have been twice. Both exceptional food and wine. Good service. Restaurant is small and intimate. Typically adjacent tables share recommendations. Friendly and efficient service. Reservations are tough so keep trying. Our best choices from two visits: insalata di carciofi, roasted baby artichoke leaves, black truffle pasta, cacio e pepe, branzino... More

I Sodi is a few doors down from The Lucille Lortelle Theatre, where my husband and I have an annual membership for MCC Theater. We look forward as much to our dinners at I Sodi, as we do the amazing performances at MCC! If you cannot get a reservation, they have 22 seats at the bar that are not reservable,... More

This was one of the best meals I've ever had in an American restaurant. We had roasted root vegetables for starters. I love Italian caponata and I'm hard to please in that department, but this was superb. Perfectly roasted and matched vegetables, balanced seasoning, aromatic olive oil - how easy vegetables can be when you get them right! Main course:... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
