I sat at the bar and had a fantastic chat with Jonathan Cohen, the friendly owner. Very nice Lambrusco and also other fine Italian reds by the bottle or glass. Jonathan really knows his wine and has assembled a fine selection. And the food is very reasonably priced and delicious. You could just go for appertivo or a full meal... More

We went on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour (4-7, $6 glass of house red or house white; $22 for a bottle chosen from the 11 or so on their happy hour list). Initially we thought we would get a glass each but ended up splitting a bottle. We didn't order food, but the food menu looked nice - cheese... More

Went there with a group of friends to chill and relax before dinner. The service is super nice and the wine list quite extensive. Happy hour makes the stay quite cheap!

This is a gem - a little oasis of a bar serving specialty cocktails, fab wines and small plates served up in a buzzy atmosphere. Proprietor Jonny C is so gracious, and really knows his wines and makes the bar come alive every evening. A MUST!

Visited here with a couple of friends on a Saturday afternoon. My husband I were with our son, tour guide, and 2 other couples who were also visiting from out of town. We initially went in the craft beer spot next door. It was totally packed. I suggested us girls go next door for a glass of wine. It was... More

My favorite wine bar for happy hour! $20 for a bottle of wine. We've only had the Grillo because it's so good that we keep ordering it. We also tried some of the cheeses and charcuterie. They were okay, nothing too memorable except for the manchego, which was very good. Atmosphere is also very nice and romantic. Love this place!

I spent a Friday evening with here with a friend. The atmosphere was great even though it was full. We had a bottle of wine and a number of appetizers. It was a great evening and the music wasn't too loud so we were able to have a good conversation. Nice location and easy to find once you know what... More

My second visit to this place after I loved it the first time around, when I happened across it by accident, late afternoon when it was quiet and relaxed - a real find then. Not so enjoyable this time - it fell into the form of most other places on Friday night in the village. I'm not sure if they... More

Like other reviewers, we found 8th St Wine Cellar quite by accident. The signage is minimal and location such that it's easy to walk by without noticing. We're so glad we did find this terrific wine bar for pre-dinner drinks and appetizer. The soft lighting and music just loud enough to be noticed without precluding conversation made it easy to... This bar has little signage. If we hadn't been looking for it, I wouldn't have noticed it. As it was, when we DID find it, I wondered if it was closed. It was quiet, dimly lit, and perfect for a quiet night out on St Patrick's day in NYC. The staff were friendly and the wine was good. Prices were... More
