High end Japanese cuisine, fresh and expensive ingredients. It doesn't have the hip atmosphere of Ruka (where Oishii's chef created the sushi menu too). It's not a NYC stylish space like Red Lantern but more delicious.

I'm tired of screaming across a restaurant table, Somehow, Oishi has mastered acoustics - quiet dining, and I love it. This restaurant is Zen simplicity but elegant. The food is above average in price but way above average in taste. IF you order tempura, don't expect it to be weighed down with a heavy batter. The approach to tempura here... More

Definitely the best Japanese restaurant I have ever tried, the Pasta with Uni, truffles and fried eggs made the dinner amazingly tasty. This is definitely a must in Boston...

This place had a dimly lit dining room with cascade water wall that made it easy to chill after a busy week. This place is not cheap, however it was one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to!!! From the octopus appetizer to the maki rolls to the alacarte sashimi and Japanese Uni (yum). Even the plain... More

We asked chef Ting to chose dishes for us, which made the evening very unique. We were not in a mood for any pork or red meat so it was pure fish, seafood, and vegan dishes. And it was incredible. We also had a chance to visit his newest restaurant in downtown "Ruka" (with the "Yvvone's" group) - and you... More

After a slight hiccup in our reservation we had an amazing Valentine's dinner. We arrived on time and were seated right away. When we ordered the Omakase we were told the only one available would be the valentine's special. We were completely frustrated by this. When we made our reservation we explained we were switching from Pabu because they were... More

I have been going to this restaurant for the last 5 years on New Years eve and have really enjoyed both the quality of the food and the festivities. During the first two years, the tables were filled with New Year's eve items (hats and beads and whistles etc) and they served a complimentary glass of champagne per guest. The... More

The best sushi I have ever had in my life. The staff is so kind and the vibe of the restaurant is very contemporary.

If you are looking for the freshest and best served sushi and sashimi, Oishii is the place for you. Although a bit priced, the food and the service justify the cost.

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
